Instructions:
1. Read pages 138‐143 in The Atlas of Great Jewish Communities.
2. Create a Jewish character who might have lived during that time period and describe
that person’s concerns and perspectives.
3. Imagine how your character might answer this question: “If you could look ahead far
into the future and see a class of Reform Jewish teachers, what would you want them
to know about the importance of the influence of the Jewish Enlightenment for future
generations?”
