Chris has been a freelance business writer for nearly 15 years, and is a master at wordsmithing. Previously, Chris worked as the sales<br />
promotion officer for an insurance company and spent more than five years as the Senior Editor for an international trade association.<br />
April Arnold<br />
April Arnold has ten years of experience in the Healthcare Information Technology field. She started her career as an Implementation and<br />
Support Specialist at MEDITECH. In her role she traveled throughout the United States and Canada and Implemented Inpatient Electronic<br />
Health Records (EHR) to a wide variety of hospitals including Children, Teaching, Critical Access and Acute Care. After being promoted<br />
to a Marketing Consultant for MEDITECH, she began Marketing and Selling the MEDITECH EHR to all Hospitals throughout the state of<br />
Tennessee and West Virginia. April is currently a System Analyst with Saint Francis Hospital and Saint Francis Healthcare Partners.<br />
Portia Bachman<br />
Portia Bachman is an executive with experience in both government and the private sector. She is a small business owner in health and<br />
fitness for 6 years and a leader and operational manager for more than 10 years at CIGNA, Aetna and CT state government. Her expertise<br />
includes motivating & leading change, strategic planning & goal-setting and delivering results.<br />
Al Beland<br />
Al has been in the field of search and rescue for decades as both a provider and an instructor. As a former member of the Civil Air Patrol<br />
and a Navy veteran, he brings a wealth of experience to <strong>Capital</strong>’s Search & Rescue and PCA programs. Al is currently an active member of a<br />
canine search and rescue team and has participated in hundreds of searches for missing and lost persons.<br />
Rich Contrastano<br />
Rich has over 20 years of experience as a video producer and editor, having produced hundreds of commercials for a local cable provider.<br />
As an experienced Final Cut Pro video editor, he has been recognized nationally as the recipient of four Telly Awards and, most recently, the<br />
Gold Winner of the International Hermes Creative Award for video editing. Rich is a graduate of the communications program at Central<br />
<strong>Connecticut</strong> State University.<br />
Matthew J. Cook, MPH<br />
Matt has been working closely with community health centers and physicians on the adoption, implementation, and use of health<br />
information technology (IT) for over five years. He leads a team developing educational modules on the meaningful use of HIT for the<br />
CT Regional Extension Center and works closely with the CT Department of Social Services on the administration of the Medicaid EHR<br />
Incentive Program. Matt earned a master of public health degree from UCONN and a graduate certificate in biomedical informatics from<br />
Oregon Health & Sciences University.<br />
Marguerite Haaga<br />
Marguerite has been a paramedic and an American Heart Association instructor for over 20 years. She has over 15 years of experience as an<br />
EMS instructor and has been teaching for <strong>Capital</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> for over 10 years.<br />
Debra Lamont<br />
Debra started in the field of computer training in 1985 as a way to provide small business owners an understanding of how best to use<br />
technology to their benefit. A trained teacher and former college professor, Deb is a graduate of the University of Bridgeport and the<br />
University of <strong>Connecticut</strong> with a Master of Arts degree in Instructional Media and <strong>Education</strong> Technology.<br />
