Burnley’s<br />
<strong>Fish</strong>tastic Day<br />
in Peterborough<br />
The Peterborough area has some very active friers, and thanks to Martin<br />
Bunning, the area is still going strong. Burnley has a similar story, with<br />
monthly meetings still attracting many active friers; this was a good<br />
chance for the two areas to catch up.<br />
<strong>Fish</strong>tastic <strong>Fish</strong> and Chips, Peterborough<br />
We left a sun soaked Lancashire early in the morning (yes we do get some<br />
sun!) and arrived at <strong>Fish</strong>tastic at around 10.30. The shop is set way from a<br />
main road, in a parade <strong>of</strong> shops on an estate <strong>of</strong> well-appointed houses. The<br />
interior <strong>of</strong> the shop reflects the modern sounding name with a clean and<br />
glossy black and white tile finish to the walls. There is a TV screen with a<br />
looping DVD to show what they do, how they do it and what special <strong>of</strong>fers<br />
are available. The interior menu is a chalk board, a feature I am seeing more<br />
and more in shops, giving flexibility with prices and can be produced<br />
comparably cheaply. The menu comprises <strong>of</strong> the traditional fish and chip<br />
fare, with some speciality fish and also pizzas.<br />
<strong>Fish</strong>tastic have recently launched a home delivery service. This required<br />
some investment, a new till system with a full till and cash drawer, a second<br />

system. Deliveries are made in corrugated fish and chip boxes, sealed with a<br />
<strong>Fish</strong>tastic sticker (a nice touch I thought) and placed in heated delivery bags.<br />
Deliveries have opened up a new extended customer base and they have<br />
seen an immediate upturn in trade.<br />
