currently runs only on Windows and Linux<br />
platforms.<br />
<strong>The</strong> console is the Tivoli Enterprise<br />
Portal (TEP). This console runs in a<br />
web browser as a Java applet. A logon ID<br />
and password secure it. <strong>The</strong> TEP is a<br />
highly customizable console; you have a<br />
fine degree of control over how to display<br />
system information and status.<br />
Rolling…<br />
Let’s roll some film and see the entire<br />
process in action…<br />
Scene 1: Dorothy, the z/OS system<br />
programmer, decides that she wants to<br />
be notified whenever there’s an exception<br />
to health check OhNo. (She created<br />
the check herself using the IBM Health<br />
Checker for z/OS custom check support.)<br />
Dorothy opens up Oz’s Situation Editor<br />
user interface, finds check OhNo, and<br />
creates a situation for it. If it triggers, a<br />
critical event surfaces to Oz and an e-mail<br />
notification is sent to her.<br />
Scene 2: <strong>The</strong> Oz HEALTHCHECK<br />
subagent goes to work, waiting eagerly for<br />
periodic updates from the IBM Health<br />
Checker for z/OS. One day, it happens…<br />
<strong>The</strong> OhNo check gets an exception.<br />
Scene 3: Red alert! <strong>The</strong> TEPS finds out<br />
(through the TEMS, from the agent) that<br />
the OhNo situation has triggered and<br />
turns the check red in the TEP console.<br />
A critical event is surfaced in other ways<br />
too: in the TEP event log and in the TEP<br />
navigation area.<br />
Scene 4: All’s well again. Dorothy and her<br />
team, having been notified of the event,<br />
take action to correct the problem.<br />
