Karlovy Láznê (Praha 1, Smetanovo
nábreží 198, +42 (0)222 220 502) is
a megaclub with a pulsating beat at
every one of its five levels, live music
at times, free internet and a steady
flow of drinks from the bars. The point
of Bugsy’s Bar is the cocktails and
bartenders take great pains to make
every drink look like it belongs to a
bigshot. Praha 1, Parˇížská 10, +42
City suggestions
The sun doesn’t shine on Riga all
year round, so take a trip to Jurmala
Beach resort, to enjoy 33km of white
sandy beaches. It’s only 20km from
the city centre. You can get there by
train from Riga’s central station, or
even a ferry from 14th-century Riga
Castle (though that takes over two
hours). Check out nearby Akvaparks
at Bulduri for waterslides galore, on
the Jurmala train line. All-day pass,
18.50 lats. www.akvaparks.lv/en
And finally…
Tram rides are cheap at only 50 cents
per ride. If you get a taxi, Red Taxis
are best as they have a visible meter.
