Easy Duets
for 2 soprano recorders; flute,
oboes, clarinets, trumpets, horn
ad lib.
The 22 easy duets are aimed at
older beginners and intended as a
method of ensemble playing. They
can be played with 2 recorders, and
also with oboes, clarinets, horns
or trumpets. The pieces are in
progressive order and especially
suited for elementary rhythm
training. The little exercises begin
with easy times and note values
(semibreves, minims, crotchets),
with quavers and dotted notes
being added bit by bit. Suited as a
supplement to every instrument
method and as a sight-reading
exercise.
Valentine, Robert
3 Sonatas
for treble recorder and basso
continuo (cello ad lib.), op. 3
Edited by Hugo and Reinhard
Matthias Ruf
Robert Valentine, born in Leicester
around 1680, was one of the few
English masters of Baroque music
who achieved fame and enjoyed a
high standing beyond the borders
of his home country instead of
within. He made his fortune in
Italy where he seemed to have
spent most of his lifetime. It is
assumed that he returned to
England in 1731. He died at an
unknown place around 1735.
Valentine was a talented composer.
Apart from some concertos,
he mainly wrote and published
solo sonatas, trio sonatas and
duets, works that clearly show his
preference for the flute, he himself
being a flautist.
