NCR Affairs Bureau holds<br />

2010 1st NCR General Membership Meeting<br />

and Technical Seminars<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Integrated</strong> <strong>Electrical</strong> <strong>Engineer</strong>s <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Philippines, Inc. (IIEE), held its 2010 1st NCR General<br />

Membership Meeting and Technical Seminars last July<br />

20, 2010 at the Meralco Mini <strong>The</strong>ater, Lopez Building,<br />

Ortigas Ave., Pasig City, with the 2010 theme, “IIEE<br />

Leading in Green Energy Solutions to Climate Change”.<br />

This one-day gathering was aimed at supporting the<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional growth <strong>of</strong> the electrical practitioners coming<br />

from the National Capital Region, to campaign the<br />

ratification <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong>'s proposed amended by-laws<br />

through proxy voting and to establish the NCR as a super<br />

region <strong>of</strong> strong and active members by encouraging the<br />

participation <strong>of</strong> IIEE members in the National Capital<br />

Region.<br />

<strong>The</strong> event gathered almost one hundred electrical<br />

practitioners coming from the different private<br />

companies and government institutions in the NCR<br />

such as the National Grid Corporation <strong>of</strong> the Philippines,<br />

City and Municipal <strong>Electrical</strong> <strong>Engineer</strong>s and Electricians,<br />

MERALCO Association <strong>of</strong> Cadette <strong>Engineer</strong>s, Society <strong>of</strong><br />

Philippine Electrotechnical Constructors and Suppliers,<br />

Inc. , National Power Corporation, Philippine Eletricity<br />

Market Corporation and more.<br />

Engr. Armando R. Diaz. Vice President for<br />

Internal Affairs welcomed all the delegates<br />

in his message. He first provided updates<br />

regarding the membership database, IIEE<br />

Foundation, CFL Testing Laboratory and other<br />

internal related activities <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong>.<br />

Two technical seminars were conducted to<br />

further develop and upgrade the technical skills<br />

and knowledge <strong>of</strong> the members. In response<br />

to the number 10 agenda <strong>of</strong> the National<br />

President, Engr. Gregorio Y. Guevarra, that is,<br />

to encourage Registered <strong>Electrical</strong> <strong>Engineer</strong>s<br />

to become a Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Electrical</strong> <strong>Engineer</strong>s,<br />

Hon. Fortunato C. Leynes, Board <strong>of</strong> <strong>Electrical</strong><br />

<strong>Engineer</strong>ing Chairman, discussed the topic<br />

“How to Become A Pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Electrical</strong><br />

<strong>Engineer</strong>”. Parallel to the <strong>Institute</strong>'s advocacy<br />

on promoting green energy solutions to climate<br />

change, Engr. Virgilio S. Luzares presented the<br />

topic “Solar House”.<br />

technical product presentations, (1) RPV<br />

Electro Technology Philippines, Corp. and (2)<br />

Schneider Electric. Other notable companies<br />

who supported the programs were Montrio <strong>Electrical</strong> Inc.,<br />

PAMAV Training <strong>Institute</strong>, Germaced- Ten Corporation,<br />

Cabalce <strong>Electrical</strong> Contractors and Asiaphil Group <strong>of</strong> Co.<br />

Engr. Ramon Z. Gatchalian Jr. presided over the 2010<br />

1st NCR General Membership Meeting. He discussed<br />

the aims and objectives <strong>of</strong> the NCR Affairs Bureau in<br />

holding such event. He also presented the organizational<br />

structure <strong>of</strong> the bureau and campaign for the ratification<br />

<strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong>'s proposed amendments to its by-laws<br />

through proxy voting.<br />

In his closing remarks, Engr. Gatchalian encouraged the<br />

participants to continue supporting the activities <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>Institute</strong>. He further acknowledged all the sponsors,<br />

guests, visitors and delegates who made the event a<br />

success.<br />

Several raffle prizes were given away by the PAMAV<br />

Training <strong>Institute</strong> and Technology, Schneider Electric and<br />

Germaced-Ten Corporation,<br />

<strong>The</strong> event was held in cooperation with the Meralco<br />

Association <strong>of</strong> Cadet <strong>Engineer</strong>s (MACE) and organized by<br />

the IIEE NCR Affairs Bureau headed by Engr.Ramon Z.<br />

Gatchalian, Jr., NCR Affairs Bureau Director.
