Metekhi
Not long ago bar-restaurant Old Metekhi was opened in old
Tbilisi, in a recently redecorated Old Metekhi Hotel.
Authors of this project are architects Levan Salukvadze and Gela
Iordanishvili (architectural company Gils).
While designing the interior of Old Metekhi bar-restaurant, the
authors skillfully adapted initial uncomfortable proportions of the space
to the new requirements. Impression of integrity in this interior is
achieved due to a holistic compositional and volumetric solution,
subtle zone-to-zone décor transitions and ingenious variation of colors.
All these expressive means successfully flavor the interior with
unique 19th century feel. Uncomplicated and elegant style of the
bar, fine views of old Tbilisi, spreading outside lavishly glazed windows,
carefully selected accessories and exclusive musical background
once again remind us the great tradition of Georgian hospitality,
lovingly preserved by our ancestors. Old Metekhi charms us
with the unique mixture of traditional and modern styles, which makes
characteristic atmosphere of the place still more attractive and comfortable.
In spite of stylistic integrity, any section of this interior retains
its individuality. Changeability of textures and colors helps focus attention
on particular dominant points, and varying intensity of artificial
lighting highlights the depth of colors and forms.
Old Metekhi lives up to its name – this bar really offers you a
rare opportunity to return to the past and share unique Georgian
traditions.
