Test Oscillator I-173,specifically designed for<br />

pre-flight checking of localizer .receivers, provides radio<br />

frequency oscillation modulated by 90 and 150 cycle spark<br />

gap and radiates a signal for checking the receiver under<br />

test Indicator I-101, a component of the localizer receiver<br />

installation, indicates operation by right or left movement<br />

of the vertical needle.<br />

This oscillator is mounted within a wooden carrying<br />

ca<strong>se</strong> which also provides space for the two Batteries<br />

BA-35 required to power it, and a two position toggle switch<br />

on the top of the ca<strong>se</strong> provides a choice of the 90 or 150<br />

cycle modulation.<br />
