Zoning Board <strong>of</strong> Adjustment<br />

The <strong>Enfield</strong> Zoning Board <strong>of</strong> Adjustment had 8 meetings during <strong>2010</strong>.<br />

Hearings were held for 5 Special Exceptions, 2 hearings were for the request to<br />

allow a single bedroom apartment on the first floor in the CB District. Both <strong>of</strong><br />

these were approved with a 3-year limit or at the request <strong>of</strong> the owner to remove<br />

the Special Exception earlier. One Equitable Waiver was approved and 2<br />

Variances were granted, 1 for a shed within 50’ <strong>of</strong> a water body and the second<br />

to replace a porch in its original location within 50’ <strong>of</strong> a water body.<br />

The Village Plan Alternative was passed as Article 2 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>2010</strong> <strong>Town</strong><br />

Warrant, this can be seen in the Zoning Ordinance under Article IV, Section<br />

405.2.<br />

Robert Cavalieri, who had been an alternate, replaced John Kluge as a<br />

board member.<br />

Note to the public: The Zoning Administrator reviews all Building<br />

Permits to ascertain zoning compliance. When filling out a Building Permit, it is<br />

important to submit a detailed site plan that shows existing and proposed<br />

buildings as well as distances to all lot lines.<br />

The economy has had an effect on a couple <strong>of</strong> items in town; more home<br />

businesses have opened than usual and campers are being used as primary living<br />

space. Campers are not meant to be Permanent dwellings and are to be occupied<br />

only for a specific period <strong>of</strong> time under the Zoning Ordinance. This information<br />

can be found under Article IV-Regulation <strong>of</strong> Uses, refer to the appropriate<br />

District for the defined length <strong>of</strong> time.<br />

The ZBA generally meets on the second Tuesday <strong>of</strong> each month. The<br />

<strong>Enfield</strong> Zoning Ordinance and ZBA application forms are available on the <strong>Town</strong><br />

Website www.enfield.nh.us. The Zoning Office is staffed 8-1 Monday through<br />

Friday and other times by appointment.<br />
