what you need to know before you apply
donations
Worthy causes and organizations are abundant in the communities where we do business. We focus our
support on the areas where we believe that we can have the greatest positive impact, and we choose
organizations based on a number of factors.

RBC Foundation donations are provided to registered
charities as gifts. Please consider the following when
determining how much to request:
n Eighty per cent of RBC Foundation’s donations are under
$20,000.
n For general donation requests, we normally fund no more
than 0.5 per cent of the organization’s operating budget.
n For capital campaign requests, we normally fund
between 0.5 per cent and 1.5 per cent of the private
sector campaign goal — this means your campaign
goal minus any government support you are receiving.
However, in no case will our total contribution exceed
$2 million.
n For requests that pertain to a specific project or
program that is strategically aligned with one or more
of RBC’s funding priorities, we will consider funding
up to 100 per cent of the specific project or program
budget, provided that funding is for a defined period
and the charity agrees to make efforts to diversify
funding sources (as appropriate).
n If you are an organization that has both a national
office and regional chapters, we consider the funding
you receive at both levels when determining our level
of support.
To ensure you qualify for a grant from RBC Foundation,
please complete the application cover sheet found at
rbc.com/donations/apply-for-funding.html, and include
the following information when submitting your request.
Donations proposal checklist
Please attach the following information to your application
cover sheet:
n A brief statement of our organization’s history, goals
and key accomplishments
n A written outline of your organization’s project
(no more than two pages)
n A project budget showing anticipated expenses
and incomes
n A list of other committed or approached donors,
including government sources
n Most recent audited financial statements
(must be less than one year old)
n A list of the Board of Directors and campaign cabinet
ministers if applicable
We accept general donation requests throughout the year,
and normally we provide a response within 90 days of
receiving your application.
