<strong>Blacktown</strong> <strong>In</strong>ternational<br />

<strong>Sportspark</strong>’s Athletics<br />

Centre is one of the most<br />

popular Athletics venues<br />

in Western Sydney with<br />

over 174,982 competitors<br />

and spectators utilising<br />

the venue for carnivals,<br />

training and community<br />

events. This is a 29%<br />

increase on visitation to<br />

the Athletics Centre.<br />

BLACKTOWN INTERNATIONAL SPORTSPARK<br />

ATHLETICS<br />

From March to September each<br />

year the Athletics Centre plays<br />

host to Primary and<br />

Secondary School, Zone,<br />

Regional & State Athletics<br />

Carnivals for public, private<br />

and catholic schools across<br />

the region.<br />

<strong>In</strong> <strong>2011</strong>/12 the venue was<br />

booked to capacity for Athletics<br />

Carnivals hosting:<br />

• 75 Primary & Secondary<br />

School Carnival<br />

• 17 Zone Carnivals<br />

• 2 Regional Carnivals<br />

• 1 State Carnival<br />

Athletics NSW & Little<br />

Athletics NSW continue to<br />

utilise the <strong>Sportspark</strong>’s facilities<br />

for many of their state, regional<br />

and zone competitions.<br />

Little Athletics West Met Zone<br />

and Region 2 Athletics<br />

Carnivals are a regular fixture<br />

each February with the events<br />

attracting over 3000 spectators<br />

and competitors to the two<br />

day events.<br />

Athletics NSW Club<br />

Championship and<br />

NSW Combined Events<br />

Championship have also<br />

returned to the <strong>Sportspark</strong><br />

during the summer<br />

athletics season.<br />

<strong>Blacktown</strong> Little Athletics<br />

Club completed their first<br />

season at the <strong>Sportspark</strong> with<br />

500 junior athletes converging<br />

on the track every Friday night<br />

from September to March<br />

during the <strong>2011</strong>/12 Little<br />

Athletics Season.<br />

Athletics NSW/Little Athletics<br />

NSW Development Office has<br />

implemented new<br />

competitions at the venue<br />

including Greater Western<br />

Sydney Summer Series and<br />

Little Athletics NSW Coaching<br />

clinics over the past 12 months.
