the <strong>Blacktown</strong><br />
<strong>In</strong>ternational <strong>Sportspark</strong><br />
Softball Centre continues<br />
to host <strong>In</strong>ternational,<br />
National, State and<br />
Regional softball events<br />
and the past 12 months<br />
has been no different.<br />
The Softball Australia<br />
<strong>In</strong>ternational Youth Cup<br />
(formerly Friendship Series)<br />
took to the <strong>Blacktown</strong><br />
<strong>In</strong>ternational <strong>Sportspark</strong><br />
diamonds for an 8th<br />
consecutive year with teams<br />
from across Australia and New<br />
Zealand taking part in the<br />
tournament from July 2 to 8.<br />

SOFTBALL<br />
<strong>Blacktown</strong> <strong>In</strong>ternational<br />
<strong>Sportspark</strong> hosted the<br />
<strong>Blacktown</strong> Junior<br />
<strong>In</strong>ternational Softball<br />
Championship on March 24 to<br />
25. Under 15 teams from across<br />
Australia took on the<br />
international challenge of<br />
Japan and New Zealand in boys<br />
and girls competition. Japan<br />
claimed the girl’s title while<br />
Victoria took out the boy’s<br />
championship.<br />
<strong>Blacktown</strong> <strong>In</strong>ternational<br />
<strong>Sportspark</strong> continues to be a<br />
popular venue for visiting<br />
college and high school softball<br />
teams with teams from the<br />
USA, Japan and Canada taking<br />
part in friendly games against<br />
junior teams at the <strong>Sportspark</strong>.<br />
On the national stage,<br />
the <strong>2012</strong> Open Men &<br />
Women’s National Softball<br />
Championships returned to<br />
the <strong>Sportspark</strong> as a combined<br />
event from February 13 to 18.<br />
NSW Firestars claimed the<br />
Women’s Gilley’s Shield in the<br />
Grand Final on February 18 and<br />
ACT claimed the Open Men’s<br />
title in their Final against<br />
Western Australia.<br />
The Australian Women’s and<br />
NSW State Teams continue to<br />
utilise the facility for training in<br />
the lead up to their respective<br />
competitions and tournaments.
