Regarded as Australia’s
premier softball facility,
the Blacktown
International Sportspark
Softball Centre continues
to host International,
National, State and
Regional softball events
and the past 12 months
has been no different.
The Softball Australia
International Youth Cup
(formerly Friendship Series)
took to the Blacktown
International Sportspark
diamonds for an 8th
consecutive year with teams
from across Australia and New
Zealand taking part in the
tournament from July 2 to 8.
BLACKTOWN INTERNATIONAL SPORTSPARK
SOFTBALL
Blacktown International
Sportspark hosted the
Blacktown Junior
International Softball
Championship on March 24 to
25. Under 15 teams from across
Australia took on the
international challenge of
Japan and New Zealand in boys
and girls competition. Japan
claimed the girl’s title while
Victoria took out the boy’s
championship.
Blacktown International
Sportspark continues to be a
popular venue for visiting
college and high school softball
teams with teams from the
USA, Japan and Canada taking
part in friendly games against
junior teams at the Sportspark.
On the national stage,
the 2012 Open Men &
Women’s National Softball
Championships returned to
the Sportspark as a combined
event from February 13 to 18.
NSW Firestars claimed the
Women’s Gilley’s Shield in the
Grand Final on February 18 and
ACT claimed the Open Men’s
title in their Final against
Western Australia.
The Australian Women’s and
NSW State Teams continue to
utilise the facility for training in
the lead up to their respective
competitions and tournaments.
