Charitable, Community<br />
and Cultural events are a<br />
regular fixture on the<br />
<strong>Blacktown</strong> <strong>In</strong>ternational<br />
<strong>Sportspark</strong> calendar.<br />
These events range from<br />
fundraisers, to cultural<br />
festivals, school holiday<br />
activities and concerts.<br />
<strong>Blacktown</strong> <strong>In</strong>ternational<br />
<strong>Sportspark</strong> continues to be a<br />
popular venue for cultural<br />
festivals with the Filipino<br />
community celebrating the<br />
‘Second Pamaskong Tiangge<br />
– A Christmas Bazar’ at the<br />
Athletics Centre in December.<br />
Both Ranstad 'Reach For the<br />
Stars’ and The Australian<br />
Foundation for Disability held<br />
their Disability Athletics<br />
Carnivals at the Athletics Centre<br />
for the third consecutive year in<br />
September and November<br />
respectively.<br />
BLACKTOWN INTERNATIONAL SPORTSPARK<br />
The carnivals see over 800<br />
participants and their carers<br />
attend a day of fun activities<br />
and sporting events with<br />
Mayor and Chairman of<br />
<strong>Blacktown</strong> Venue Management<br />
Councillor Alan Pendleton<br />
joining with <strong>Blacktown</strong> Leisure<br />
Centre Stanhope Mascot Surfee<br />
Sandy to present awards at the<br />
conclusion of the Ranstad<br />
‘Reach For the Stars’ event.<br />
Youngsters were able to<br />
participate in a variety of<br />
school holiday programs and<br />
activities offered by the<br />
<strong>Sportspark</strong> stakeholders and<br />
other sporting organisations<br />
throughout the year. Baseball<br />
NSW conducted ‘Training with<br />
the Pro’s Clinic’, <strong>In</strong>ternational<br />
Goalkeepers Academy ran livein<br />
and day camps and Cricket<br />
NSW Clinics featured players<br />
from the Sydney Thunder Big<br />
Bash team. AFL and Rugby<br />
League also conducted clinics<br />
during the year.<br />
The Cadbury AFL Super Team<br />
event was held on Australia<br />
Day at the <strong>Blacktown</strong><br />
<strong>In</strong>ternational <strong>Sportspark</strong><br />
Athletics Centre. <strong>Blacktown</strong> was<br />
selected as the venue after 71<br />
year old Les Colgan – a resident<br />
of Stanhope Gardens –<br />
purchased $5 of Cadbury<br />
confectionery from his local<br />
Kings Langley Coles store and<br />
entered the promotion which<br />
coincided with the <strong>2011</strong> AFL<br />
Finals Series. Every effort was<br />
put in by the BVM team the day<br />
before to clear flooded areas of<br />
the Athletics Area to ensure the<br />
event went ahead. Despite the<br />
inclement weather over 1800<br />
people attended on the day.<br />

Clinic, sausage sizzle, inflatables
