Netzer Olami's International Conference - 2011<br />

Special projects in 2011:<br />
<strong>The</strong> annual Netzer conference will take place in Jerusalem January 13-19. Six<br />
representatives (2 from Russia, 2 from Ukraine and 2 from Belarus) will represent the<br />
FSU at this event.<br />
Four FSU Netzer-TaMaR staff will represent FSU Netzer youth at the upcoming<br />
<strong>World</strong> <strong>Union</strong> 35 th International Convention in San Francisco, February 7-13.<br />
Nine leadership seminars have been planned <strong>for</strong> 2011 in January, March and May in<br />
Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.<br />
Netzer Clubs – activities:<br />
"Jewish <strong>The</strong>ater" is a project developed in Moscow that<br />
presents Jewish literature, theater, topics, etc. through the<br />
stage medium. <strong>The</strong> project takes place once a month. <strong>The</strong><br />
project leader chooses a subject related to Jewish/Israeli<br />
culture. <strong>The</strong> group goes to see plays and discussions<br />
follow with the troupe, director, etc. One of these meetings will take place in the<br />
"Shalom <strong>The</strong>ater" and a play by Isaac Bashevis Singer, "Shosha?", a story taking place<br />
in Jewish Poland will be seen by the group. This will be followed by a discussion about<br />
the play, Bashevis Singer and life in the shtetl.<br />
In Minsk a new project: "Me, Myself and I" began in September.<br />
It is an art project in which each participant can create something<br />
him/herself through the following mediums: photography,<br />
cooking, advertising, music. Each week focuses on one of these 4<br />
mediums. For example during photography week prior to<br />
Chanukah, participants photographed a modern miracle in Minsk<br />
and show this to the entire group.<br />
<strong>The</strong> "Netzer Style" project in Kiev takes place once a month. This project is connected<br />
to Israel and focuses on topics such as: human rights, equal rights in society,<br />
achievements and challenges the country faces. Prior to each meeting, the project<br />
leader prepares an in<strong>for</strong>mation sheet about, events and news in the past month in Israel<br />
and a discussion and presentation takes place based on this in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Havdallah launched in Moscow is continuing. <strong>The</strong> project has undergone changes<br />
and now Havdallah will be conducted in Jewish homes of madrichim. Each week a<br />
madrich is responsible <strong>for</strong> organizing Havdallah and refreshments. Netzer members<br />
come to take part in Havdallah and learning sessions.<br />

Both Denis and Emma were members of Netzer, beginning as chanichim, becoming<br />
madrichim and now they are continuing to develop their professional skills within Netzer<br />
as coordinators.<br />
