Netzer Olami's International Conference - 2011 A. Sniffim to send monthly reports to each other (Kol Netzer) B. Madrichim exchanges (swap for camp) C. Shnatties to go to developing sniffim for camp D. Netzer Olami to visit sniffim more often E. Netzer Olami to hire staff person for developing sniffim F. Coordinating names for age groups world-wide א" עשת -ר" צנ לש תימלועה הדיעוה G. Movement chultzot (shirts) and other joint products such as song books and sidurim H. Various international events where exactly the same events take place in all sniffim at the same time. Examples: 1. a social justice activism event 2. a Shabbat \ weekend residential theme 3. a creative prayer service 4. fundraising I. International pen pals (including gamad ve'anak=secret Santa) to link up sniffim or Shnatties from north +south hemispheres. Food for thought for this upcoming veida: Our ideas are not the problem, but rather their implementation. Netzer Olami's International Conference - 2011 Introduction: Vegetarianism Motion – re-examined א" עשת -ר" צנ לש תימלועה הדיעוה Proposed by: Netzer Olami and the Shnat Netzer staff Whereas a resolution was passed at Veida 5770 (2010) introducing a vegetarianism policy for Netzer Olami run events (Shnat Netzer, Netzerfest and Netzer Veida), And whereas that resolution included a clause stating that the vegetarianism policy should be reviewed at Veida 5771 (2011), And whereas Veida 5771 has received reports from the Netzer Olami tzevet (staff) with regard to the level of success of the aforementioned policy, namely that it encouraged a lack of respect for the ideology of the movement, failing to promote vegetarianism among the Shnatties, causing tension between the Shnatties and the tzevet, causing resentment among the tzevet of the Sniffim (branches), and worst of all, causing situations in which Netzer Olami wasted food, and hence added to the ecological damage caused by people to the world, And whereas this Veida still recognises what was introduced as the background to the previous motion, namely that: This movement notes: • That Netzer is a youth movement committed to the ideal and actualisation of Tikkun Olam • That, in the words of the UN, “A 2006 United Nations report found that the meat industry produces more greenhouse gasses than all the SUVs, cars, trucks, planes, and ships in the world combined.” • That it is now an established scientific fact (sic: In the original proposal to the Veida, this was stated as such, without reference to where these "facts" come from, but one could site the Intergovernmental panel on climate change's 4 th report from 2007.) that [A] anthropogenic (man-made) climate change is real and [b] that it will have a negative overall effect on humanity’s life on earth. This movement believes: • That, when there is an action we as Jews and humans can take that is of little cost to us and great benefit to the world, we should – all other things being equal – do it. • That vegetarianism today is amongst the simplest and most uncontroversial ways to help fight global warming and anthropogenic climate change. • That vegetarianism is entirely logistically possible in Israel today if properly planned for. • That a number of our Sniffim are already vegetarian, including LJY-Netzer, RSY- Netzer and Netzer Australia. This movement proposes one of three options: 1. To create a vegetarianism policy for Shnat Netzer and Netzer Veidah, and any other events for which Netzer Olami have budgetary responsibility for the catering, which will encourage Netzer members on these events to lead a 61
