_ Road guards are posted at the same time the range is cleared to prevent any<br />

personnel or livestock from re-entering the range.<br />

<strong>Range</strong> guards are briefed <strong>and</strong> have proper equipment (positive 2 way commo<br />

with the RSO <strong>and</strong> an emergency signal).<br />

_ Vehicles <strong>and</strong> administrative personnel are located well to the rear of the gun<br />

position/firing lines (out of back blast <strong>and</strong> noise danger zones).<br />

Communications between using units <strong>and</strong> <strong>Range</strong> Control is established <strong>and</strong> unit<br />

ceases firing if communications is lost, hourly radio checks are required.<br />

DA Form 1594 is being filled out properly.<br />

Red range flag (blinking red light at night) is displayed.<br />

Fire Support Coordinator (FSC) is present during mortar or artillery firing.<br />

Ensure medical personnel (as specified) are on site with aid-bags, litter,<br />

dedicated aid vehicle <strong>and</strong> driver with strip map to nearest medical facility.<br />

Obtain clearance to fire from <strong>Range</strong> Control.<br />

b. During firing:<br />

Verify RSO/LRSO/MRSO/ARSO is/are present.<br />

Road guards are posted.<br />

Road guards have commo with ROIC.<br />

Hourly communication checks are being kept with <strong>Range</strong> Control.<br />

All personnel on the firing line (firers, scorers, control, <strong>and</strong> support personnel) to<br />

wear Kevlar helmets or CVCs <strong>and</strong> hearing protection.<br />

Surface danger zone (SDZ) remains cleared of all personnel <strong>and</strong> livestock.<br />

Records of ammunition expenditures are being kept up to date.<br />

Tracers are not fired without authorization. Contact <strong>Range</strong> Control immediately<br />

prior to firing to verify authorization.<br />

Down range area has been cleared in English <strong>and</strong> Korean.<br />

<strong>Range</strong>/training area is kept in good state of police.<br />

Ammunition is kept dry <strong>and</strong> out of direct sunlight.<br />

Weapons are cleared <strong>and</strong> placed on “SAFE” before removal from the firing line.<br />
