Misfire procedures have been briefed.<br />

ACS <strong>Eighth</strong> <strong>Army</strong> must approve overhead fire over troops or villages.<br />

Verify masking <strong>and</strong> overhead clearance.<br />

Give safety briefing to firers (translated if KATU.S.A or ROKA personnel are<br />

involved in the firing). This briefing will include the different signals used for signaling<br />

a cease-fire.<br />

c. During Firing:<br />

Safety requirements in appropriate regulations, waivers, SOPs, TM’s/FM’s<br />

regulations are being followed.<br />

d. After Firing:<br />

Elevation, deflection, <strong>and</strong> charge are checked before firing.<br />

Mortar is announced safe prior to firing.<br />

Settings are only changed by direction of FDC.<br />

Ammunition lots are kept separated.<br />

Down-range area <strong>and</strong> impact area is clear.<br />

Supervise proper disposal of unused propellant increments.<br />

Ensure that all weapons are “cleared” <strong>and</strong> placed on “SAFE” prior to their<br />

removal from the firing line or position.<br />

Ensure that prior to leaving the range, a shakedown inspection is conducted so<br />

that unauthorized personnel remove no live ammunition from the range.<br />

Ensure that all UXOs are marked <strong>and</strong> guarded until EOD personnel dispose of<br />

them.<br />

Report any significant malfunction rates to <strong>Range</strong> Control Center <strong>and</strong> the unit<br />

Ammunition Officer.<br />
