l. preparing the annual report on the department's progress;<br />

m. evaluating student complaints regarding department mem<strong>be</strong>rs and handling them in<br />

accordance with department and University procedures;<br />

n. supervising and <strong>be</strong>ing accountable for the departmental procedure by which students are<br />

accepted as majors and approved for graduation;<br />

o. selecting departmental office staff, supervising their duties, and evaluating their<br />

performance, when applicable, in accord with the Human Resources Policy Manual of<br />

<strong>Regis</strong> University;<br />

p. assigning to other mem<strong>be</strong>rs of the department such specific duties as will make possible<br />

the more effective operation of the department;<br />

q. attending all regularly scheduled Department Chairs’ meetings and serving as liaison<br />

<strong>be</strong>tween the Dean and the department; and<br />

r. supervising, in conjunction with the Dean or designee, the department’s outcomes<br />

assessment processes<br />

9.3 Administrative Officers and Academic Rank<br />

9.3.1 Administrative Officers<br />

Persons who are <strong>full</strong>-time employees of <strong>Regis</strong> University and who hold academic or nonacademic<br />

administrative positions <strong>may</strong> <strong>be</strong> granted academic rank in <strong>Regis</strong> <strong>College</strong>, subject to the<br />

provisions in Article 8.4.<br />

Individuals holding academic rank under this section must:<br />

a. teach in <strong>Regis</strong> <strong>College</strong> at least one three or four credit hour course for which they are<br />

qualified every two years, subject to the needs of the department or program concerned;<br />

b. function as does any other mem<strong>be</strong>r of a department or program (i.e., attend meetings and<br />

<strong>be</strong>ar a fair share of responsibility for the department or program's business); and<br />

c. fulfill the duties and responsibilities as well as enjoy the rights and privileges of a ranked<br />

faculty mem<strong>be</strong>r with regard to the teaching function.<br />

9.3.2 Academic Administrative Officers<br />

<strong>The</strong> academic administrative officers of <strong>Regis</strong> <strong>College</strong> include the Academic Dean of <strong>Regis</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong>, and the Assistant or Associate Dean(s) of <strong>Regis</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Academic administrators <strong>may</strong><br />

<strong>be</strong> eligible for advancement to tenure and promotion to a higher rank subject to the provisions in<br />

Articles 16.4 and 17.3.<br />
