Copies of all syllabi will <strong>be</strong> available in the Dean’s office for public review. A copy will also <strong>be</strong><br />

placed in the appropriate personnel files no later than two weeks after the <strong>be</strong>ginning of the term in<br />

which the course is offered.<br />

12.2.3 Academic Schedules<br />

<strong>The</strong> schedule of each faculty mem<strong>be</strong>r is established by the department chair or program director<br />

in consultation with the faculty mem<strong>be</strong>r. <strong>The</strong> total department or program schedule, which,<br />

whenever possible, shall include course offerings throughout the day, five days a week, is subject<br />

to the approval of the Dean. <strong>The</strong> Office of Academic Records and <strong>Regis</strong>tration is responsible for<br />

developing and implementing operational policies concerning adjusting preliminary class<br />

schedules to achieve the most effective use of University classroom space.<br />

Full-time faculty teaching in more than one program of the University will distribute their<br />

teaching load in accordance with the schedule agreed upon <strong>be</strong>tween themselves and the<br />

appropriate supervisor in each program, graduate or undergraduate, in which they have contracted<br />

to teach. Any such schedules must <strong>be</strong> re<strong>viewed</strong> by and approved in writing by the appropriate<br />

dean(s) and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.<br />

12.2.4 Course Content<br />

Except for standardized departmental courses with multiple sections which are handled by<br />

departmental committees or modularized courses in accelerated programs, the faculty mem<strong>be</strong>r is<br />

responsible for planning and presenting the course material, establishing course objectives and<br />

requirements and making them known to the students, and selecting and ordering texts and<br />

supplemental materials. In all courses, the faculty mem<strong>be</strong>r is responsible for preparing,<br />

administering, and grading papers and examinations, for assigning grades, and for presenting<br />

course material consistent with the level of the course.<br />

12.2.5 Cancellation of Classes<br />

<strong>Faculty</strong> mem<strong>be</strong>rs are expected to meet their classes punctually.<br />

If the faculty mem<strong>be</strong>r cannot meet a class, s/he should notify the department chair as well as the<br />

Office of the Dean so that the students can <strong>be</strong> notified. When inclement weather necessitates the<br />

cancellation of classes, the Associate Vice President for University Services or designee is<br />

responsible for making the determination and for notifying the major radio stations, the major<br />

television stations, and for announcing the cancellation through the University’s communication<br />

systems.<br />

12.2.6 Final Examinations<br />

<strong>The</strong> University requires that:<br />

a. a final examination or equivalent <strong>be</strong> administered in every course;<br />

b. when a final examination is chosen, classes meet at the official examination times<br />

established by the Office of the <strong>Regis</strong>tration and Records, although in the case of a lab<br />
