DEATH: termination of life.<br />

Current definition: We say that someone has died<br />

when his heart stopped beating and he stopped breathing.<br />

American definition, adopted in 1981: An individual is<br />

declared dead after irreversible cessation of all<br />

brain function.<br />

Medical definition: Stop irreversible contraction as<br />

cardiac. Of artificial respiration maintained by<br />

lung mechanics. Total abolition of reflexes. Dispa<br />

pearance of any electroencephalographic signal.
