The ‘Car for a Cure’ giveaway occurs annually, with all proceeds
from ticket sales benefiting the Diabetes Foundation.
The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi (DFM) is the state’s
only nonprofit health organization that provides diabetes
research, information, patient services and advocacy, and its
mission is to provide hope through research, programs and
service to the 346,500 Mississippians with diabetes. For more

Don Gordon, son of Jo Jeff

James Don Gordon.
The bride-elect is the
grandaughter of Mary Carville
Blakeney and the late Thomes
Blakeney of Baton Rouge, and
Cherry Louval Morrison and
the late John Giddeon
Morrison of West Plains.
The prospective bridegroom
is the grandson of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Javis Foster Ford Jr.
of Newton, and the late Lou
Ella Blount Gordon Kennedy
and Edgar Lee Gordon of
Decatur.
Dr. Morrison is a graduate of
West Plains High School and
Drury University. She earned a
doctorate degree in occupational
therapy and neurosience,
and a postdoctoral fellowship
in neuroscience from
Washington University School
of Medicine. She is a faculty
member and assistant professor
at the University of Kansas
Medical Center.
DR. GORDON is a graduate
of Jackson Preparatory School.
He was graduated summa cum
laude from the University of
Mississippi. He attends the
University of Mississippi
School of Medicine, earning
membership in Alpha Omega
Alpha Medical Honor Society.
He has finished a radiology residency
at Mayo Clinic and will
complete a fellowship in neuroradiology
in July 2009.
Dr. Gordon will practice radiology
at Comprehensive
Radiology Services, PLLC and

Page, to Robert Paul Waltzer,
son of George Waltzer and the
late Geraldine Waltzer
The bride-elect was born in
Washington, D.C., started
school in Heidelberg,
Germany, and was graduated
from Darien High School. In
high school she won a fouryear
scholarship for a college
of her choice for two years with
the last two years to be at the
Walter Reed Army Institute of
Nursing (WRAIN) in
Washington, D.C. She attended
Vanderbilt University for two
years and a branch of the
University of Maryland and
WRAIN for two years for her
bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Upon graduation, she was
commissioned a lieutenant in
the Army Nurse Corps. Later
she returned to Vanderbilt
University to earn a master’s
degree in nursing. Her overseas
stations in the Army included
Berlin, Germany, just after the
wall fell; Zagreb, Croatia, supporting
United Nations and
NATO troops engaged in
Croatia and Serbia in the early
1990s; and a final Army assignment
in Heidelberg, Germany,
after which she was retired and
awarded the Legion of Merit
for distinguished military service.
Post-retirement, Miss Page
served as the medical placement
facilitator for Mercy
Ships International, a global
charity serving the poor, mainly
in West Africa. She lives in
Jackson, where she pursues a
post-master’s certificate in
gerontological nursing at the
University of Mississippi

THE PROSPECTIVE
bridegroom was born in
Philadelphia, Pa., and was
graduated from Yeadon High
School. He was graduated cum
laude with distinction from the
University of Delaware with a
bachelor’s degree in biology.
Later he completed his dissertation
in neuroanatomy and
was graduated from Ohio State
University with a PhD in anatomy.
After instructing for several
years at Wheaton College in
Chicago, he began teaching at
Belhaven College where he is
professor of biology. He also
holds an adjunct appointment
at the University of Mississippi
Medical Center where he conducts
research in psychiatric
neuroscience.
A May wedding is planned to
be held in Jackson.
Roberson, March 31 in
Lakeland. Grandparents are
Michael and Shirley Farrell of
Jackson; Frank and Lori
Roberson of Hernando; and the
late Linda Martin Roberson.
Also welcoming the baby is her
sister Anna Kate.
