ITHACA COLLEGE<br />

Sheila Rhoades won individual conference titles in the 50-, 100- and<br />

200-yard freestyle events and Missy Keesler won the Empire 8 title in the<br />

200-yard backstroke. The Bombers also won Empire 8 titles in the 200- and<br />

400-yard medley relays.<br />

<strong>Ithaca</strong> automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Women’s<br />

Swimming & Diving Championships in four events by meeting the NCAA<br />

A provisional qualifying standard.<br />

NCAA Championships: Six <strong>Ithaca</strong> swimmers combined to earn All-<br />

America finishes in two relays and four individual performances during the<br />

four-day NCAA event. <strong>Ithaca</strong> finished 13th in the team standings with 75<br />

points. It was <strong>Ithaca</strong>’s highest team finish since placing 11th in 2003. The<br />

Bombers have now finished in the top-20 of the team standings 20 times<br />

in the last 27 years.<br />

Lauren Botterbusch concluded her outstanding <strong>Ithaca</strong> career as a fourtime<br />

All-American in 2009 and a 12-time All-American in her career. Her<br />

12 All-American finishes rank 14th in <strong>Ithaca</strong> history. She placed third in the<br />

100-yard breaststroke at the NCAAs and was a member of the sixth-place<br />

400-yard medley relay team. She was also 14th in the 200-yard breaststroke<br />

and on the ninth-place 200-yard medley relay team.<br />

Sheila Rhoades finished 10th in the finals of the 100-yard freestyle<br />

in 51.31 seconds. It was her first ever All-American finish in individual<br />

competition and the seventh overall All-American honor of her career.<br />

She added two All-American finishes in relay events in 2009 on both the<br />

200- and 400-yard medley relay teams.<br />

Jen Heberton joined Botterbusch and Rhoades on the 200- and 400yard<br />

medley relay teams to earn two more All-American finishes and she<br />

now totals six overall All-American honors in her career.<br />

Amanda Vitullo (200 medley relay) and Missy Keesler (400 medley<br />

relay) completed the two All-American relay teams and Becca Blazak earned<br />

All-American honors by placing 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke.<br />
