ITINERARY IN MEDIEVAL MODENA<br />

Graziella Martinelli Braglia accompanied a result, characterized by <strong>the</strong> presence of<br />

numerous youth, in a fascinating <strong>journey</strong> back in time <strong>through</strong> a "champion" medieval<br />

city of Modena. The route crossed Corso Duomo, Via S. Euphemia, by Carter and via S.<br />

James. The illustration of <strong>the</strong> aspects of urban-architecture has been combined in an<br />

exemplary way with <strong>the</strong> narration of <strong>the</strong> events of <strong>the</strong> city <strong>through</strong> <strong>the</strong> Middle Ages.<br />

Number of participants: it was calculated a total of about 430 participants in <strong>the</strong> <strong>journey</strong><br />

in three days.<br />

Dwell in <strong>the</strong> house of San Gemini (October 2)<br />

The guided tour of <strong>the</strong> Ca<strong>the</strong>dral behind closed doors, by Renato Cavani, an appointment<br />

was particularly appreciated by <strong>the</strong> audience participating for both <strong>the</strong> picturesque<br />

evening atmosphere, and for <strong>the</strong> skillful narration of <strong>the</strong> aspects of medieval piety. The<br />

rediscovery of <strong>the</strong> architectural beauty of <strong>the</strong> ca<strong>the</strong>dral was accompanied by a fascinating<br />

story about how <strong>the</strong>y perceived and inhabited <strong>the</strong> great "house Geminiano" by men of <strong>the</strong><br />

Middle Ages Modena.<br />

BOTANICAL GARDEN-University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Sunday, 26<br />

September)<br />

The conference Archaeobotany medieval, curated by Marta Mazzanti and dedicated<br />

exclusively to <strong>the</strong> Middle Ages, following <strong>the</strong> thread of <strong>the</strong> <strong>journey</strong> of <strong>the</strong> pilgrims, was<br />

followed by a particularly public investment, which packed <strong>the</strong> hall of <strong>the</strong> University.<br />

After <strong>the</strong> meeting, was offered an original cocktail "medieval" with samples of plants that<br />

have been discussed in <strong>the</strong> conference (pomegranate, dogwood, elder), much appreciated<br />

by those present.<br />

Number of spectators were occupied all 40 seats, <strong>the</strong> maximum capacity of <strong>the</strong><br />

classroom.<br />
