Mary Lewis, who celebrated 106 years of<br />

District/Unit News<br />
Future police officer, Jonathan Williams, falls<br />
in line with 003rd District Officers at an<br />
outdoor roll call during an anti-violence rally<br />
of Janelle Lillian Hood... Wel<strong>com</strong>e and<br />
congrats <strong>to</strong> the newly promoted Sgts R Beck,<br />
D Harris, M O’Malley and S Rellinger and<br />
Lt R Moran... District events included Black<br />
His<strong>to</strong>ry month. POs C Parker, L Benigno<br />
and P Ross hosted an “Open House” that<br />
acknowledged black inven<strong>to</strong>rs and his<strong>to</strong>rians as<br />
well as other contributions from blacks.We also<br />
recognized March as ‘Womens Month” and<br />
hosted a Women Forum at the South Shore<br />
Cultural Center. Senior Citizen Officer PO B<br />
Jenkins partnered with surrounding senior<br />
residents and hosted a Valentine Bingo event<br />
using candy hearts as chips... Speaking of Big<br />
Hearts, our Senior Advisory Council and<br />
Senior Officers D Gadson and R Bullock<br />
bagged and distributed fruit <strong>to</strong> a nearby nursing<br />
home...The Tre continues <strong>to</strong> lead our residents<br />
with initiatives that included an Anti-<br />
Violence Rally where over 100 citizens rallied<br />
and marched against violence... PO M Ross<br />
and our Clergy Sub<strong>com</strong>mittee hosted a Spring<br />
Break Youth Prayer Rally where over 125<br />
<strong>com</strong>munity youth and adults prayed for peace.<br />
After the ceremony, the youth played 3 on 3<br />
basketball with some of the officers... PO E<br />
Howard hosted our first Landlord Tenant<br />
meeting... The Domestic Violence<br />
Sub<strong>com</strong>mittee continues <strong>to</strong> host coffee sips and<br />
outreach as it expanded <strong>to</strong> include schools<br />
located within the District. The DV<br />
Sub<strong>com</strong>mittee would like <strong>to</strong> thank all the officers<br />
and personnel who contributed books <strong>to</strong><br />
raise the awareness of Child Abuse Month... A<br />
special thanks <strong>to</strong> all the officers who<br />
contributed <strong>to</strong> the March of Dimes... Once<br />
again the Third District scored big in the<br />
basketball <strong>to</strong>urnaments held at the Academy.<br />

robbed a bank. All the money was recovered<br />

Nicholas Dean... Congrats are also in order<br />
for PO Michael O’ Malley on his promotion<br />

injured while making an arrest... <strong>Our</strong> hearts are<br />
heavy with the passing of PO Rodney<br />
Henson who possessed a wonderful personality,<br />
and always made us laugh out loud. He was<br />
an outstanding officer and will be greatly<br />
missed. He would want all of us <strong>to</strong> continue <strong>to</strong><br />
live our lives <strong>to</strong> the fullest. We love you<br />
Rodney, and we miss you... <strong>Our</strong> condolences<br />
