T/S Theodore Ptak has a new granddaughter, Megan Ptak.TS Jeanette Hayes was blessed with a new grandchild, lucky number 7, Ahmad Tims. We wish them well… Returning “home to the hood” is our own Lt Lolita Parham, welcome back!…The stork was busy delivering new baby girls to PO’s Charlie Hall, Robert Creeth, Donovan Markiewicz and Bill Jones our resident golf pro, grandpa of little “Emmani” Hold on to your wallets guys!…Our former CAPS pioneer, PO Steve Johnson now hangs his hat at Taylor’s sub-station-you are missed…PO P.O.s Esther Sampson and Caressa Northcross at Public Housing’s Senior Fair 20 Esther “Jackie” Sampson and this reporter entertained over 300 seniors at a Senior Health Fair hosted by Senior South. Fists were waved our way by seniors threatening to feed us knuckle sandwiches when they didn’t win a raffle gift. I’m sure by now everyone knows that the Youth Division no longer exists and we are now part of the Detective Division’s Special Victims Unit... I’d like to apologize for an over-site in the last issue. forgot to welcome back Invs Sam Pollock and Michael Cox from their extended detail... Get well wishes and a speedy recovery to Ladys Barlow and Carol Thompson- Atlas... Congrats to Inv Errol Hicks, whose son Errol A. Hicks graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Business. Now that he doesn’t have to pay that tuition any more perhaps junior can help dad with some investment strategies... Sean, the 9 yr old son of Inv Cox, is an associate minister at the Good Hope Temple Methodist Church. Out of the mouths of babes... Atta Boy to Inv David Brandt for being coach of the year to his son Alex’s football team.Alex also won the St. Rita High School Mustang Award for leadership... All the little Brandts, as well as Sarah Halko, daughter of our Sgt. Mark Halko are on the honor roll at St. Mary Star of the Sea... Joe Matuch, son of Sgt. Tom Matuch, is in the International Baccalaureate Program and recently ranked #4 of 676 freshman... Invs Edgar and Kelly Gosa celebrated their 2 nd anniversary. Lets hope that they have many more happy years together... Sgt Mark Halko and his wife celebrated an anniversary by romantically cruising the Carribean... During the last few months, this unit lost several members and we wish to send out condolences to the families of Kenneth Perry, and Alberta Gordon. Condolences also to the following members who have lost loved ones: Samuel Pollock, Pamela Childs and Victor Echavarria... Good luck to all the recent retirees. Let’s hope that Supt Hillard has a long and healthy retirement. Perhaps he will be grooming that granddaughter of his to fill those shoes in the not so distant future... I start this issue with condolences to the Thomas family and the many friends and colleagues who First Deputy Supt John Thomas impacted. I lost a great friend and mentor. For those who did not know the “First,” he was a class act, a family man, a great father, and the “REAL POLICE.” John, my family will miss you.
