We congratulate our troops and thank them for<br />

keeping us safe. We miss POs Rich Solecki<br />

and Orlando Fonseca, who are serving in<br />

Iraq... The Tact Lt wants <strong>to</strong> <strong>com</strong>pliment the<br />

1068 team. Under Sgt Whiteside’s leadership,<br />

the team had several excellent UUW<br />

arrests... 1062, headed by Sgt Joseph Pulido,<br />

continues <strong>to</strong> make outstanding Armed<br />

Robbery arrests... Not <strong>to</strong> be out done, POs<br />

Kevin Cole and Joe Annerino of the 63<br />

team solved an armed robbery pattern that had<br />

involved 3 districts and many months...A great<br />

time was had by all who enjoyed the opportunity<br />

<strong>to</strong> donate time and energy for the worthy<br />

Ben Perez fund raiser.We’re all very proud of<br />

the contributions that made the fund raiser<br />

Shawn O’Sullivan. Their knowledge and<br />

expertise is wel<strong>com</strong>e by all... Senior Citizen<br />

Officer Ruben Casares apprehended an individual<br />

at a s<strong>to</strong>re in the suburbs as the offender<br />

tried <strong>to</strong> stab a young lady with a knife. PO<br />

Casares arrested the offender after a struggle<br />

and turned him over <strong>to</strong> the suburban police.<br />

Casares is a hero in our hearts... Congrats <strong>to</strong><br />

PO Dena Carli who will tie the knot in June<br />

<strong>to</strong> PO Dennis Pociask (013). In the midst of<br />

planning a wedding, she managed <strong>to</strong> earn an<br />

MBA from St. Xavier... Tact Officers Roger<br />

Lara and Jose Garcia became detectives.The<br />

Detective division gained two super cops, but<br />

both will be missed.A very special thank you <strong>to</strong><br />

Louis So<strong>to</strong> for <strong>com</strong>ing <strong>to</strong> the aid of a damsel in<br />

distress in Washing<strong>to</strong>n D.C. - you’re a gem!<br />

Hello Everybody! I’d like <strong>to</strong> devote the first<br />

part of this column <strong>to</strong> all Dept members who<br />

are serving in the <strong>Military</strong>.Two members from<br />

the Fillmore House, Sgt Gerald Murphy and<br />

PO Dominick Kearns, were activated under<br />

Operation Enduring Freedom and called <strong>to</strong><br />

duty some time ago. On behalf of Cmdr Dana<br />

V. Starks, the Dist and the Dept,Thank You!...<br />

Waiting as backup are POs Steven Kapanke,<br />

Jose Almanza and David Granado and we’re<br />

hoping that you don’t get activated,<br />

but if you do, we’re sure that<br />

you’ll represent the Dist proudly...<br />

My sons Harold and Brian are<br />
