Under Sgt Whiteside’s leadership, the team had several excellent UUW arrests... 1062, headed by Sgt Joseph Pulido, continues to make outstanding Armed Robbery arrests... Not to be out done, POs Kevin Cole and Joe Annerino of the 63 team solved an armed robbery pattern that had involved 3 districts and many months...A great time was had by all who enjoyed the opportunity to donate time and energy for the worthy Ben Perez fund raiser.We’re all very proud of the contributions that made the fund raiser 14 such a success. It would not have been possible without the dedication of Sgt Jose Brennan and “his staff.” Tact/Gang has some new personnel, and if early indications are correct, Mike Cavanaugh, Todd Olsen, Ron Zuniga and Tom Beyna will have a positive impact on their teams. The 10 th Dist Community Policing Office welcomes POs Tina Rubio, Gregory Gilfillan and Sgt Richard Witney... Congrats to PO Gabe Flores who was promoted to Sgt and assigned The late First Deputy John Thomas at the 2002 Bureau of Operational Services Holiday Party. He will always be remembered as a Chicago icon to the 007... We’d like to welcome two newly promoted Sgts: Sgt Maria Pena and Sgt Shawn O’Sullivan. Their knowledge and expertise is welcome by all... Senior Citizen Officer Ruben Casares apprehended an individual at a store in the suburbs as the offender tried to stab a young lady with a knife. PO Casares arrested the offender after a struggle and turned him over to the suburban police. Casares is a hero in our hearts... Congrats to PO Dena Carli who will tie the knot in June to PO Dennis Pociask (013). In the midst of planning a wedding, she managed to earn an MBA from St. Xavier... Tact Officers Roger Lara and Jose Garcia became detectives.The Detective division gained two super cops, but both will be missed.A very special thank you to Louis Soto for coming to the aid of a damsel in distress in Washington D.C. - you’re a gem! Waiting as backup are POs Steven Kapanke, Jose Almanza and David Granado and we’re hoping that you don’t get activated, but if you do, we’re sure that you’ll represent the Dist proudly... This event was a great success as the sub-committee was able to distribute clothing and food to three neighborhood shelters. During the drive the sub-committee also collected 50 cell phones that will be programmed to dial 911 directly.These phones are distributed to victims of domestic violence to be used in the time of crisis…. Danny Detloff (retired) gave a short-winded speech recalling his encounters with his former partner, Sgt Watzke, from birth to present. Finally, Chief of Patrol, James Maurer, who patiently waited, was able to extend his kind words and congrats. It was great to see all the past & present members of the 018 th Dist honoring PO Kenny Lunsford. Ditto to the words of Cmdr Dan Dugan who stated “Kenny was one of the finest policeman I have ever known”.....All who attended the promotional party honoring Lt’s Steve Georgas and Chris Kennedy had a good time. The Lt’s sent their regrets and appreciation for those unable to attend due to the War Demonstration that night...Tact welcomes Gang Team Sgt William Barron aboard.Also, welcome back to some familiar faces who are now wearing stripes, Sgts Kevin Hannigan, Eric Diaz and John O’Callaghan. The stork also visited PO Tom McNaughton and wife Erin who had a baby boy Martin Patrick,and delivered a baby girl, Erin, to PO Dave Mullany and his wife Jackie...Best of luck to recent retirees Sgt’s George Papagiannis & Earl Olsen.
