The Northbrook Park District manages more than 500 acres of land<br />

in 21 park areas and offers a wide variety of recreational and exercise<br />

opportunities for all ages, interests and abilities.<br />

The 9-hole short course caters to juniors, beginners and players<br />

looking to improve their short game. The rebuilt course provides an<br />

excellent short game practice area.<br />

The Leisure Center is the headquarters for recreation programs for<br />

children and adults and is home to Sunshine Preschool, special<br />

events and parties. In the same building, the Senior Center delivers<br />

dozens of programs, special events, trips and services for adults<br />

age 55 and older, including tap dancing, exercise classes, a choir,<br />

card games and a garden club.<br />

Meadowhill Aquatic Center/Meadowhill Park<br />

Swimmers can enjoy a lap pool, diving area, children’s water<br />

playground and tube and body slides. The adjacent park offers<br />

soccer, football, baseball, basketball, an outdoor ice rink and the<br />

Teams Challenge Course and Jeffrey’s Climbing Tower. The Ed<br />

Rudolph Velodrome features weekly bike races and special events.<br />

The Northbrook Sports Center contains an upgraded outdoor pool<br />

complex with zero-depth area and two indoor NHL-sized ice rinks,<br />

community rooms, a concession stand and skate shop. The Sports<br />

Center hosts figure skating, hockey and speedskating classes and<br />

Inside the Leisure Center, the intimate Northbrook Theatre<br />

showcases live theatre for family audiences. An adult company of<br />

professional actors performs one-hour musicals. And, an awardwinning<br />

children’s company presents theatre by youth for youth.<br />

The Performing Arts Department also offers summer workshops and<br />

professional instruction in music, dance and drama.<br />

Sportsman’s Country Club<br />

Sportsman’s is considered one of the best public golf complexes<br />

on the North Shore, with the redesigned and nationally recognized<br />

Classic 18 Course, the East 9 full-length course, a lighted 30-stall<br />

high level of customer service, instruction, maintenance and value.<br />

This recreational showpiece spans 107 acres, offering a wide range<br />

natural prairie and wetlands, a pathway system and a sled hill.<br />

a popular playground, gazebo, lighted ball fields and acres of open<br />

Wood Oaks offers recreational choices for all seasons, from a large<br />
