Expectations. It is expected that faculty who receive funding through the faculty development
committee will report this funding in annual reports and promotion, tenure, and post-tenure
documents.
2. Additional Faculty Development Opportunities
Below are additional sources for faculty development monies, dependent upon availability of
funds:
• The Walker Award
• The Doswell Award
• The College of Education Alumni Partnership Awards
• Bank of America Award
• Singleton Endowed Professorship Award
• The Tolbert Faculty Development Award
• The Winthrop University Research Council Awards
• The Helen Abell Faculty-Student Collaboration Award
3. Faculty Development Fund: Individual Faculty Allotment
• Funds ($ 200) for each academic year will be disbursed to eligible faculty. Eligible faculty
are members of the Richard W. Riley College of Education Faculty Assembly (excluding
Department Chairs and other administrative positions).
• To spend funds, the faculty member must complete the Request for Payment of Individual
Allotment form and supply required documentation. Approval from the Faculty
Development Committee is not required. However, Department Chair’s signature is
required.
• Funds will be available for use until March 1 st of each academic year. Unused funds will be
returned to the Faculty Development General Fund.
How may funds be used?
Funds are to be used to finance activities that will support teaching, scholarship, or service,
such as:
• Activities to continue education or meet recertification requirements and preparation to
teach, such as travel and registration to attend courses, conferences, workshops, or
institutes;
