6.12 Water Cess<br />

<strong>Karnataka</strong> <strong>State</strong><br />

<strong>Pollution</strong> <strong>Control</strong> <strong>Board</strong><br />

The Water Cess is payable by industries and local authorities for the water consumed by them at the rates<br />

specified in the Water (Prevention & <strong>Control</strong> of <strong>Pollution</strong>) cess Act and Rules. The water cess is one of the<br />

revenue to the <strong>Board</strong>.<br />

The Cess assessed and collected for the financial year <strong>2005</strong>-20<strong>06</strong> is Rs.4,<strong>06</strong>,30,829/- and Rs.3,02,62,601/respectively.<br />

A detailed status on cess assessment is given below.<br />

6.13 Geo-referencing of Industries in Bangalore urban & rural districts and Information<br />

technology implementation in KSPCB.<br />

As part of Spatial Environmental Planning <strong>2005</strong>-<strong>06</strong> major industries in Tumkur, Mysore, Koppal,<br />

Belgaum, Bellary and Chamarajanagar were geo-refered.<br />

6.14 Helpdesk at Bangalore<br />

Helpdesk of the <strong>Board</strong> was commissioned on June 5th, 2004 to streamline the mechanism of receipt &<br />

issue of various consents and authorizations by the Bangalore based Regional Offices of the <strong>Board</strong><br />

(Bangalore City-1, Bangalore City-2, Bangalore North, Bangalore South-1, Bangalore Souith-2, Bangalore<br />

East, and Bangalore West) Helpdesk acts as a single point contact for industries & organizations seeking<br />

consent of the <strong>Board</strong>. The applications are received at the Help Desk & scrutinized. In case of incomplete<br />

applications, the applicant will be suitably advised regarding attending the requirements. The duly completed<br />

applications are accepted & the date on which the consents will be issued will be specified in<br />

acknowledgement slip.<br />

6.15 IVRS for complaint registration<br />

'Interactive Voice Response System' (IVRS) has started functioning from the World Environmental day<br />

2004 that is from 5th June 2004. IVRS is introduced with a view to give quick response to public regarding<br />

complaints related to pollution. The complaints are received from all over <strong>Karnataka</strong> through IVRS over the
