UrbanPlan
UrbanPlan Prepares High School Students for Land Use Leadership
cleveland high School iGreen team: Kevin Garcia, Emily Jaffe, Daniel Ghattas, Brandon
Pollack, and David Werner
With their win on June 4, Don Bynum’s, team teacher, and
the Cleveland High School iGreen Team set the UrbanPlan
bar even higher than last year.
The Cleveland HS iGreen Team’s winning proposal included
substantial sustainable elements, thus reflecting one of ULI’s
three top priorities. The Cleveland High School iGreen
Team presented its winning project to the LAUSD Board of
Education on June 26. This is the second consecutive year
that the UrbanPlan winning team has been invited to make a
presentation to the LAUSD Board of Education.
The UrbanPlan program instills responsibility, accountability, and determination in
its participants… Through the UrbanPlan program, I no longer feel discouraged
about my community. I now have faith that it can improve, it just takes time.
—Krystle Evans, Former UrbanPlan Student
UrbanPlan is an opportunity to expose students at a young age to the diversity
of career paths available to them in real estate. It is an extremely rewarding
experience to inspire young talent, at a time in many of their lives when they
are unsure of their future path, to join our industry and become future leaders
in shaping our communities.
