2. All coursework during the final semester that will be applied toward graduation requirements<br />

must be taken at <strong>Biola</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

3. A minimum of twenty-four (24) units must be taken at <strong>Biola</strong> <strong>University</strong> in the degree program.<br />

4. A minimum of twenty-four (24) distinct units must be completed at <strong>Biola</strong> in any additional<br />

graduate degree at the same level. This applies to the second (or additional) degrees and double<br />

degrees taken at <strong>Biola</strong> for all graduate programs.<br />

Cap/gown/hood sets will be available for purchase in the <strong>Biola</strong> Bookstore during regular bookstore<br />

hours. Payment to the <strong>Biola</strong> Bookstore is required at the time of pickup. Master‘s hoods will be<br />

distributed at the School of Education Masters Banquet, the Wednesday before commencement.<br />

Independent Study/Arranged Course<br />

An Independent Study is a course that is initiated by the student, who then works independently toward<br />

the goals and objectives outlined by the professor on the Arranged Course Permission Form. Students<br />

who are in good standing and not on probation are eligible to enroll in an Independent Study. An<br />

Arranged Course Fee is required at the time of registration.<br />

Independent Study courses are provided to allow the pursuit of advanced work in subject areas that may<br />

not be covered in courses listed in the catalog. Independent Study courses are registered for during<br />

normal registration periods. The Arranged Course Permission Form is available in our Forms drawer in<br />

the central files room.<br />

Students may take a maximum of 6 units MAEd or MAT courses by Independent Study. It is<br />

recommended that this be done in the middle or latter portion of the program and requires prior<br />

approval of the student’s faculty advisor and the Graduate Chair.<br />

Learning Center<br />

Students desiring accommodations based on physical, learning, or psychological disability should<br />

contact the Learning Center. The Learning Center office is located on the second floor of the Library,<br />

middle section and can be reached by calling extension 4542.<br />

Library<br />

The Library serves the entire university community, both graduate and undergraduate, with extensive<br />

book and periodical resources especially appropriate to a School of Education. SOE graduate students<br />

are subject to the same library policies and procedures that apply to everyone attending <strong>Biola</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />

Librarians and staff are available to assist School of Education students in inter library loan procedures,<br />

computer search services, and introduction to services appropriate to graduate research and study. Your<br />

student I.D. card is your library card and is required to enter the Library and to check out materials.<br />
