Single Subject Credential. The SB2042 Single Subject Credential authorizes instruction in the subjects<br />

listed on the credential in departmentalized classes at any grade level including preschool, grades K-12<br />

and classes organized primarily for adults, but is especially appropriate for middle school and high<br />

school. This credential also includes authorization to teach English Language Learners. Passage of the<br />

appropriate CSET exam or completion of a state-authorized subject area program will be required for<br />

students to earn a Single-Subject credential. All students should regularly see an advisor in the School<br />

Admission Requirements. Students who wish to complete the graduate teacher preparation<br />

program formally apply through the graduate admissions office. Candidates must also verify possession<br />

of a Certificate of Clearance from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing prior to<br />

registration for SEED519 in order to participate in the required fieldwork sequence. Information<br />

regarding the application process for the Certificate of Clearance can be obtained in the School of<br />

Education office.<br />

Application Process. Candidates will submit an application to graduate admissions which will<br />

include personal contact information, academic background, references, essay questions, CBEST<br />

registration verification, verification of passage of at least one of the CSET tests, and proof of a 2.75<br />

GPA. An application fee is required.<br />
