Slide 2 Class reunion 50 years 1960 to 2010 Hyde Park high school HISTORY Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Park Mr Crosley - Headmaster Herbert Crosley arrived at Hyde Park from Athlone Boys High where he had earned a reputation as a strict disciplinarian and an excellent maths teacher. His first day at the school was marked by the lining up of pupils outside the hall and a walking inspection of amongst other things, boys haircuts. Long hair resulted in an order for a haircut. Setting a standard for personal appearance was the first of many changes he introduced to steer the school onto a more ordered and disciplined route. Mr. Crosley had served as a fighter pilot during WW2 and those who spent time in his office will have seen the photo of his Spitfire that he kept on the wall. His military background had a great influence on his management style.
