CONGRATULATIONS
Ben Bannister
Ben had his first game with the Comets at the age of 4years old.
Last Saturday, seven years on and seven seasons later marked his
100 th consecutive game for the club.
He played in the 6/3’s under Matt O’Brien and then the 6/1s under
Craig Price and was awarded the prestigious Bill Herron
encouragement award.
He played in the 7/1’s and 8/1s under Steve Long and then the 9/1s
and 10/1s under Dave Wright.
Last season Ben played in the 11/2’s with Russell Eagle and this
season is under the tutelage of Ned Narouz.
Bens most memorable moment was playing in last year’s Grand Final
where he kick a conversion under immense pressure and although
the game was narrowly lost the experience will live with him for a
very long time.
There have been many great moments of his career and many people
have contributed along the way. Special thanks go to all his coaches
and trainers who have guided him and shown so much faith in him as
BLACKTOWN WORKERS 8

This week we travelled to Blacktown Workers Club. The boys played
really well and put things together. They made two early tries to
make a final score of 26 to 8.
Tyson got 2 tries and one conversion, Shonie got 3 tries, and
Daniel got one.
Man of the match went to CJ, and although he missed a try this
week, his defence and urgency for the ball was second to none.
Bailey received the Crackers Star award, and Daniel received the
Rebel Sports encouragement award.
Logan was a big man this week and really impressed on the field.
The final score doesn't reflect how well Blacktown played, they are
a really great side.
The 3,2,1 points went to 2 points to Shonie, 2 points to Tyson and 2
points to CJ.
Keep up the good work boys, you are playing fantastically as a team
and can't wait to see what you deliver at next weeks game!!!
WINDSOR 0

ROUND 2Vs Glenmore Park Won 20- 8
What a fantastic way to begin the season with a great win over
Glenmore Park. But firstly I'd like to thanks our 2 great sponsors
Skyworks Scaffolding and St Marys Auto Parts, and welcome players
back from last year and our new players to the club.
It was an impressive start to the year with our boys coming away
winners 20 to 8. Strong defence was the key to our victory with more
often then not the guys gaining ground without the ball, and scooping
up a loose ball to score a try. It was very pleasing to see that the
training in the weeks leading up to the seasons first game has paid
off, and looking forward to continuing a great season with a great
little team and very supportive parents.
Round 2 Vs Windsor Won 24 - 0
Today seen our guys and girl get to strut their stuff
on their home field, and didn't they make the most of this
opportunity. Scoring a fantastic 24 - 0 win over Windsor. It was
again our defence that stopped Windsor from getting near our line,
with Jai showing exceptional toughness and technique in brining down
players from behind.
Xavier Wes Lachlan Bowden Bailey and Jamari showed their love for
bullrush at training extended to the games with the boys tackling
everything in sight, this in turn was supported by devastating running
by Tyrell Che'-James, and not to be out done little Talia was not shy
to take on the boys and get up after being shoved in the back pretty
hard.
Well done to all our players, who continued with another great
performance, which won some high praises from the Windsor coach.
Bring on next week!
What an awesome result boys!!!! Everyone out there had a top game.
As a coach it is great to watch the way you boys are starting to gel
together as a team. It is great to see you all out there taking it all in
and learning the game of Rugby League but at the same time having
a lot of fun out there.
Tries this week were scored by: Cooper Barr x 2, Kai x 2, Adam x 2,
Kian x 2, Zackman Goodwin x 1, and Jack Grieve 1. Jack also kicked
a great conversion.
We have got a great little group of boys in our team as well as a
great group of trainers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank
our dedicated trainers, Dylan, Nathan and Paul and I would also like
to thank our very organised Manager Kerrie.
This week’s Pizza award went to Zachari who had a couple of great
big tackles. Trainer’s award went to Jack Grieve who put in a hard
effort at training during the week and also had a great game. The
Tackling award went to Cooper Barr who again was one of the best of
the field. And this week’s Man of the Match who had an absolute
screamer of a game went to Adam Collins. Great effort boys.
A big congratulations to St Clair Comets Committee for a fantastic
online Magazine. You can really tell that you have all put a lot of
hard work into it and we all look forward to being able to read it
every week. Well done and Thank you!!!!
HAWKESBURY CITY 12

A Big thankyou once again to ED’Z FAMILY RESTAURANT at The
Blue Cattle Dog Hotel, St Clair for their Sponsorship this year. Take
the family out and Get down there for a meal when you can and
remember that kids eat free on Saturday and Sunday nights! Also
thanks to our new back of Jersey Sponsor “WESTCLADD – Carports
and Awnings – Ph: 0412 476 042” for coming on board as well.
Our second competition game saw us playing at home against
Hawksbury City. We had our full team available and the boy’s were all
keen to get out on the field and play footy.
Unfortunately we had a slow start, with some fast runners from
Hawksbury City getting around the outside of our defence to score
first. We were also surprised to see some great offloads from the
opposition, so that is something we can work on as the season goes
on.
It didn’t take long for the boys to hit back and we scored three tries
through the match, one each to Jordan, Jaylen and Hone. Hawksbury
City scored another one and it looked like we were going to hold on
with a win, until a late try after the final whistle went to Hawskbury,
so we ended up with an exciting draw.
I think there was a good improvement this week in the way all of the
boys got back in the defensive line after each tackle. There was some
good running and good tackling by all of the boys and Jake was a bit
unlucky not to get a try as well.
Our Referee Andrew did a great job in his first game, pulling up play
a couple of times to explain to the boys some of the finer points of
the game and keeping the game moving. Thanks to Wayne and Rob,
our trainers, Linda and Debbie our managers, all the Parents and
supporters and to Trent and Jack on linesman duties.
The Final score was a 12 – 12 draw. Congratulations to the Best and
Fairest, Jaylen, and to Lachlan who got the Pizza Award for a great
effort.
DOONSIDE 22

Round 2 for the Under 6 6's div 9 saw us off to Kareela Reserve to
play Doonside. Doonside had alot of bigger kids compared to us. The
team tried hard with jake and Brady breaking the defensive line but
were unable to cross over the line
Defense let us down a bit but Ethan pulled of the Brute Big Hit when
he took on one of Doonsde's biggest players front on and came up
with a solid one on one tackle.
Jake was our only try scorer but was unable to convert his own try.
The team played well, but there is always room for improvement and
i think once we get back to training as normal the side will have a big
turn around.
QUAKERS HILL 38

The boys had a great attacking game on the weekend scoring 6 tries
and handling an easy 50% of the possession. We need to work on our
defence as 7 to 8 tries were scored against us, forcing the game to a
loss.
Eliah was a highlight with two golden tries in the corner of the second
quater. Cameron had a number of benji steps that fooled the quakers
defence on a number occasions he scored as well.
Matt Obrien forced his way over for a try and Riley and Byron had a
busy game in defence making alot of one on one tackles.
Overall the boys had a good game and we can take alot of positives
out of this one and we can work on the negatives at training through
the week.

Our first game at Peppertree and a good win for the boys.
After 2 weeks playing the top 2 teams in the age group not just in
Penrith but possibly in all of Sydney it was good to see the team
bounce back.
The first period was disappointing. We started well with Kye finding
touch from the kick off and Silas scoring not long after. Silas was
again involved in the next try when he popped a great offload to Kye
who took the ball at full speed and streaked away for a try. We
scored 2 tries but our defence wasn’t moving up fast enough and we
also let in 2 tries as well and went to the break ahead 12-10
The second period saw improved defence but our attack fell away
with a few boys getting put into touch and thanks to a great try from
Josh right at the end of the period we were locked at 16 all
The last period of play was our best of the season so far. Dylan found
touch from the kick off and our defence dominated Colyton limiting
their metres and playing the period in great field position. We kept
Colyton scoreless and put on 2 awesome tries. The first saw Kye
running the angle drew in the Colyton left side defence before
throwing a great pass to Skully just the way we have been practising
and Skully sprinted away for the try. The next try was to Silas who
barged through the middle of the defence and ran 30m for his second
try of the day.
Players Player went to Ezra who made plenty of metres with hard
running and tackled hard all game. Starry and Nathan played the left
and right halves positions well keeping the team structured well and
ran well with limited runs.
Thanks to everyone who came along to the camp night after the
game. All the boys had a great time. Hopefully we can organise
another night at the end of the year
Thankyou to our sponsor Frankham Engineering for your great support. I hope you
were impressed with the boy’s efforts Larry, thanks for coming out to watch and thanks
to Jan & yourself for buying McDonalds for the boys after the game, the boy’s loved it.
This team was a bit bigger than us, but that doesn’t bother our boy’s at all. We were in
control for the whole game with our brutal defence which gave us good field position
on the change over to help us score our 9 tries. We are learning how much easier it is
when we move up in 1 line as a team, and with our fast play the ball, we will be a very
competitive team this year no matter who we play. Well done boys on a great team
effort. Bailey received the trainer’s award for his much improved efforts at training
which definitely reflected in his game. He tackled around the legs, ran hard tucking the
ball under his arm and kicked a great goal. Jayden received the tackle award for
tackling better than he ever has before. He probably topped the tackle count, even
making all 4 tackles in 1 set, & made some great cover tackles down low on the
biggest boys in their team. Great footwork through the middle & his organising from
half back just topped off his best game ever. Blade received the pizza award for his
best game so far, he really has listened & learnt to move up on the outside making it
easier for him to make those great cover tackles, & his fast footwork through the gaps
rewarded him with 3 tries & a goal. Tyrell had an awesome game scoring 2 tries with
his fast in & away, but it was his defence on the left hand side of the field which
impressed us the most. Not only did he stop them getting past him on his side, he also
cover tackled on the other side of the field if they managed to get through. Jake is
starting to move up a bit more in the defensive line which is making it even easier for
him to make those copy book low tackles. He got to dummy half very quickly for those
fast play the balls which also helped with his last tackle runs, one of which lead to his
try & conversion. Tayte is having fun at training & on the field which makes him play
at his best. With his unbelievable cover tackles on the edges & his fast footwork in &
out of the opposition, earning him a great try & conversion. Tai Nui made his tackles &
didn’t let anyone through the gaps either side of him. & with his awareness of the side
line growing every week was able to step through gaps creating a great try & a
conversion. Jack is getting better each week; he is protecting his side of the field in
defence & is running harder than ever knocking anyone in his way to the ground. He
also has great footwork when there is space which is how he got his terrific try. Corey
always runs hard & makes valuable metres for his team. His good training is helping
him improve every week. He is tackling his best & protecting the gaps when they run
near him. He is our best at running onto the ball & is working on his fast play the balls.
Harry was way more energetic this week & his talk on the field helped his team mates.
He stays out of the way like we want all of them to do when it is not their run, but
unfortunately lead to him only having 2 or 3 runs. But they were good quality runs with
strong palm offs. Try to keep those palm offs to the chest area & you will be very hard
to stop. Jacob is concentrating a bit more at training which has improved his game out
of site. He now comes out of the line fast & is making sure of his tackles. & his fast,
hard runs with quick play the balls are setting up the next runner while the opposition
are still trying to get back on side. Sam wasn’t scared to run the ball up the middle at
the bigger boys & has quickened his play the balls up for his team mates. He did move
up in the line more often today which made it easier for his team to trap the opposition
when he did. Good effort considering he was sick all week.
We would like to thank our sponsors this season Pioneer Pest Control
P/L and Photo123. Another great match of footy today and well
deserved win. We trained hard and played even harder. Still a lot of
fighting on the field which we will have to get under control. This
team today was ready for us. Every time we ran through the ruck
they were on top of the runners. We changed our tactics and took to
the outsides of the field with a great diagonal running up the field
through the gaps. This worked well with try after try hitting the score
board. I think today all the players learnt a valuable lesson to wrap
the ball up as the opposition was constantly offloading to the big
forwards. Highlights of the game Nathan with 3 tries and 1 being the
most amazing with nearly every man on deck keeping the ball rolling
down the field, offload to offload then Nathan finding the try line on
the end of third bell. Justin with a big sprint down the side line with a
try and big kick which bounced off the middle post. Sabian, Jaiden,
Stuart also bagging a try. Ben, Blake, Alex, Sabian converting today.
Tackles off the charts again. Stuart, Blake, Logan, Alex, Sabian and
Nathan ranking high in the tackle count. Brenton, Jaiden, Justin, Ben
not far behind. Well played game guys keeping us in 1 st position on
I would like to thank our sponsor Brian Palombo of Kookaburra
Plumbing. Today’s game there’s not much to say, last week we had 5
or 6 players having a go, today we had 3 or 4 having a go. What we
need is for all 8 players to have a dig. Alek no ball last week, this
week gets the ball and 3 tries and a goal. Hayden scored 1 goal.
Jacob’s tackling saved 4 tries. Todd and Ryan tried hard and Connor
made some good inroad. I thought Blake’s game was his best but I
can see he has a lot more to show us through out the rest of the
season. Justin and Hayden just could not get into the game this
week, but next week they could turn that around and have blinders. I
said it would take about 4 weeks to look like a team, so 2 down and 2
to go, then we’ll see how we are going.
Thank you to our sponsor WEST CITY TYRES for your support of the
after a good win last week the boys were determined to make it 2 in
a row. Windsor came out firing and with our boys starting slowly they
scored first to lead 6-0. Windsor continued to dominate with our
defence not moving up they nearly scored again until rabbit made an
outstanding try saving tackle after chasing a player nearly the length
of the field. We were slowly getting in the game and after some great
lead up work from speedy dyl we were able to score to go to half time
at 6 all. We came out in the second half with a huge improvement in
defence with Aiden leading the way. Despite still making mistakes
with the footy our defence kept us on top and gave us a chance to
win the game. With some great lead up work from Thomas And
Elijah, Joe was able to score a try with a minute to go and give us a
hard thought win. Thomas was outstanding hitting the ball up and
going straight through their defence on several occasions. Junior was
at his defensive best tackling anything that moved. Blake had another
great game with his passing again outstanding. Luke kept his runners
going forward despite the marker being in his face all day long. Tyler
was elusive in attack causing trouble with every touch. Jayden
continued to get runners on the outside oof their defence andis really
playing well in his new role. Rylan and Jacko took the ball forward all
day and made sure we were always ona roll. Well boys 2 from 2 lets
BLACKTOWN WORKERS 22

St Clair under 9’2s v’s Blacktown Workers lost nil – 22.
Firstly I would like to welcome the following new players to our club
Aaron, Rohnan and Jordan and both Blake and Daniel ( DJ ) and
Mathew (nuggett ) whom played for different teams last year.
I hope you all fit in well with our remaining players from last year
which are Flynn, Coby, Zac, Lachlan, Peter, Brandon, Xavier and
hopefully we will have a fun filled season ( although today we had a
little hiccup, but as they say next weeks another game and possibly a
better result ).
This weeks game was our first of the season as last week we had the
bye and it showed from the opening whistle that we never seemed
switched on. We constantly missed tackles ( made plenty of fairy
tackles ) and when we had the ball we couldn’t keep possession. At
half time the score was 14 nil and not looking good. The second half
was a bit more promising with us getting a little more ball but again
poor handling cost us dearly and we paid the price with the final score
being 22-nil loss.
While it was a disappointing result I feel it could be a turning point as
the look on the players faces at the end of the game said it all.
Hopefully everyone will turn up to training this week in the right
frame of mind this week where we can fix some of our problems. “ Go
Firstly, a huge thank you to our Major sponsor Attractive Painting & Decorating.
Give Sami a call on 0410 623 801 for all those unfinished jobs at home. Thank
you also to Titan Logistics, our minor sponsor this year.
This week we had J-Man as captain after achieving the training award. We played
another great game boys and were unlucky not to come away with a win - leading
8-0 most of the game. Coach will be working on our fitness and goal kicks at
training this week. Our tackling was hard and we did a terrific job holding Windsor
out. Our off loads were awesome this week – you boys were much better at
backing up and look dangerous when you throw the ball around!
In the 1 st half we had Mojo as dummy half, Joey as 1 st receiver, Crusher as 1 st
runner, Whippet as 2 nd runner, Falcon as 3 rd runner, Sly Fox as 4 th runner and
Dewsey as 5 th runner. Joey and Bull were marker this half. We started off strong,
Joey skilfully catching a high Windsor kickoff. Mojo made a terrific Kick & Chase
on the last tackle, unlucky not to regain the ball. Sontan, Bull & Falcon were
tackling hard. Joey had all the parents yelling with an awesome intercept that
Falcon skilfully turned into a try! Joey did a great job as marker, moving up fast
to tackle. Dewsey made a crushing tackle, taking Windsor over the sideline.
Whippet made a good hard run, Bull threw a great offload to Dewsey, Sly Fox was
running hard then made a terrific offload to Crusher who scored an awesome try!
NJ was SO close to converting, I actually thought the ball went over until the flags
said otherwise. Windsor kicked a short ball and J-Man knew exactly what to
do...leaving the ball for another penalty our way. Codesta was running hard and
straight and Mojo made it over the line but with a hard call from the reff, his try
was disallowed – again I was jumping around like an idiot thinking he had scored.
The score 8-0 after a terrific first half.
In the 2 nd half we had Whippet as dummy half, Falcon as 1 st receiver, Joey as 1 st
runner, NJ as 2 nd runner, J-Man as 3 rd runner, Codesta as 4 th runner and Sontan
as 5 th runner. J-Man and Mojo were markers this half.
Again we started off strong; J-Man with a beautiful kickoff and Bull making a
great tackle but unfortunately Windsor scored and converted, making it 8-6. We
were still holding on, Joey & Codesta making an awesome sideline tackle, stoping
a try. NJ tried hard to take advantage with a great run, offloading to Codesta who
made a great sidestep but was unlucky not to break through. Falcon made a great
Kick & chase. Sontan, Joey & NJ made a wonderful sideline tackle – stopping
another try. We tried to find our try line again, Dewsey offloading to NJ who
offloaded to Sontan. Dewsey made a great run but we just couldn’t get to our try
line. Sly fox made a good tackle, Joey, Dewsey and Whippet made a great
combined tackle but unfortunately with 3 minutes on the clock, and no reserves
left - Windsor went in for another try. This made them hungry for more but you
boys did extremely well not to let them in, Sontan, Dewsey & Mojo making great
tackles. Another great game guys! I think Windsor will be our rivals this year.
WE’LL GET THEM NEXT TIME BOYS!!!
the Man of the Match and Tackler of the Week Trophy's.
This weeks match was against Windsor at Peppertree Oval. The game started
off well with great defence from both sides. When ZANE ran hard onto the
ball to crash over in the corner we were up 4 - 0. Windsor hit back soon after
and the scores were tied at 4 - 4. Windsor gave away a penalty for punching
after KEVIN smashed them in a tackle. He made them pay when he had
the first run and split them up the middle to score. We were up 8 - 4.
When KEVIN scored his second for the day we went into half time leading 12
- 4.
The second half saw ROCKET dummy left and dive right to score in the corer
and the lead was out to 16 - 4. CAZ hit the ball hard and ran half of the field
and dragged a few defenders over to score and we were leading 20 - 4.
SIMMO finished off the day with a great try stepping and swerving through
the defence. RILO nailed the conversion to make the final score 26 - 4.
This week's win was a great team effort with everyone contributing. Although
we scored six tries today the highlight was our great defence.
ROCKET - Scored 1 try and used his vision to organise well as first receiver.
KEVIN - Scored 2 great tries and was great in defence especially from
marker.
JUNIOR - Had a couple of good strong runs and tackled well.
CAZ - Scored a great try and troubled Windsor every time he ran the ball.
BREA - Had a great game with good strong running with the ball and good
tackling.
LIAM - Ran onto the ball hard and made a few good tackles.
RILO - Kicked a great conversion and organised well at dummy half. His
tackling was great again this week.
ZANE - Scored a great try and ran the ball up hard all day. His defence was
great as well.
CONNOR - Made some great one on one tackles proving to himself that he
can do it. He also ran the ball strongly. Connor got the PIZZA Award for his
improved defence.
MICHAEL - Played his first game of league and was great. He came close to
scoring on a few occasions and tackled brilliantly. Michael got the TOP
TACKLERS Trophy for his great defence.
JOSH - Scored a great try, ran the ball hard and tackled great, especially
when he was at marker. Josh got the MAN OF THE MATCH Trophy this
week for a great all round game.

It was a good form reversal after last week's loss. The boys attitude was
much better and they were much more focused on their jobs.We gave
Colyton a nice welcome into first division with a brutal display in
defence. Our boys were just too big and fast for their opponents. We had a
really good training session and it showed on the field. Our structure was
much better and we stuck to it the entire match. There is still plenty of
room for improvement and that really excites me as a coach. Our new
boys are starting to gel and our experienced boys led the way. We scored
some entertaining tries much to the delight of the spectators. It was hard
to single out any one player as they all played well. The only thing I
could fault was our goal-kicking 2 from 7 was pretty awful, it must have
been a dodgy ball. Well done boys. This is a great improvement and let's
Good win by the boys this week, a little too good. Windsor had
no answer for our Attack and when they did have the ball our
scrambling defense was excellent. 2 weeks in a row teams
have not been able to cross our line, our fitness looked a bit
better but we didn’t need to make many tackles so we need to
keep working hard at training as we have yet to play the top
sides in out comp yet so we will need to keep progressing.
Points this week went to Charlie, Kaine, JD they were
First of all I would like to thank our sponsor, McDonalds Blacktown 9676 – 7129
for their generous support, the boys and everyone really appreciate it. This week
it was all about the right attitude. I was trying to get the boys to realise that they
have to be more serious come game time because everyone wants to beat us. I
was so proud of the way the boys played. Not the score line but the things they
did on the field. I told the forwards to dominate and they did. I told the team to
back each other up and they did. I told them to tackle in 2’s and 3’s and they did.
And at half time I told them to get the ball 1 pass wider to score, they did and we
scored 3 trys from doing this. It is fantastic to watch the boys do in the game
what we practice at training, hopefully the boys have learnt that they can’t muck
around and expect to win games. Austin had another top game bagging a double
and crunching in defence but had 2 big mistakes when he failed to find touch
something practice will fix. Azza had an outstanding game at 5/8, his runners
were always organised and he took on the line himself and threw in a nice switch
play. Great game from Troy unlucky not to get a couple of trys himself with some
top runs and off loaded to set up a try. AJ had a top game not only did he do his
usual hard runs and defence but he started to offload to support which was great
to see. Baley had a top game at D/H always in position and backed up his runners
the whole game. Great game from Triky at half back, some nice run arounds and
some great one on one defence in the middle of the ruck. Rock exploded in the
2 nd half where he off loaded 3 times for 3 trys ran himself to a stand still and
picked up a try for himself. Joel went on in the 2 nd half and went on a tackling
frenzy hitting anything that ran his way, great effort buddy. Blocker was ready to
explode before kick off and smashed them apart when he went on the big fend
was working overtime and he made huge ground with every run. I told Sal to get
more involved this week and I think he had one of his best games as a Comet.
Not only did he take the ball up hard and worked hard in defence but he backed
up in attack and scored a double because of this extra effort, great game mate.
What Sal did on the left Aydos did on the right. Hard runs and hard defence a
super effort from the player I know you are keep it going buddy. Clear the way
big Jaedyn has arrived. I spoke to him before the game and in my opinion set up
the win with one of the best halves of footy I have seen he went on a wrecking
mission and the team followed. Keep the confidence up like I told you, you belong
in 1 st Division. Aaron (Cash), much better game mate. I told you I picked you
because I can see your ability. Don’t drop your head when you make a mistake
because every one makes mistakes. Keep your chin up and try harder, be
confident and play for your team trust the people around you. It was great to see
you pick up your first try for the Comets I’m sure it won’t be your last.Trys :
Today the U11/2's were up against Windsor at Wolves home ground.
It was a warm day but the boys were ready to play and hoped to get
a win. Good to see the boys putting in the hard yards and backing
each other when defending. Tackles were being made by 2 and
sometimes 3 of our boys at a time. Some standout one on one
tackles were made by BANNO, GIBBO and ZAC. Hard yards up the
middle were made by KYE, GUN, JYE, STARRY, CHANNY, LUKE and
ZAC. SPEEDY was solid on the left side with STIGSY & BILLY often
cleaning up on the right. Windsor made it over the line first and
managed to convert their try making the score 6-0. Our first try was
scored by WICKSY once again with great foot work & pace to
burn. WICKSY also converted his try to put the score at 12-6.
BANNO managed to break their line and went over for our 2nd try of
the day and also converted with a clever cross field run with a
dummy to fool the defence of the Wolves. Unfortunately Windsor
were the better side in the second half & raced away for the win.
Most of there points were scored after we made mistakes or gave
away penalties which will be rectified with the boys listening to Luke
& Pawski & putting the skills learnt at training into match day. The
boys should hold their heads up as they never gave up & the next
time these two teams meet I think it will be a different result. If you
boys put the hard yards in at training and listen and learn from what
your coach and trainer has to tell you, the team will do well this year.
Just a reminder that we still do not have a sponsor for the team so
focus this week was to be consistent and build on what we did last week. As
the game started we did the basics right and we were poised for a solid
performance....but then the "first half curse" hit the team again with the
Windsor team scoring twice in the first half taking them 12 nil up at the
break. A Pep talk was all the boys needed as they clawed their way back into
the game to level at 12-12....Then it was an arm-wrestle between the 2
teams for the remaining 10 minutes of the game to see who would take
home the spoils. As fate would have it the boys it was the bounce of the ball
which would decide the game as the Windsor team grounded a last tackle
kick after the final bell to walk away with the win. Definitely another gutsy
effort from the boys just very unfortunate to be on the wrong side of the
ledger losing after the final whistle by the bounce of the ball. All players
played well and displayed their growing skill levels especially after defending
many back to back sets. Many of the calls were touch and go but the boys
showed tremendous composure and discipline towards the officials by just
playing on and completing the task at hand. Its a slow star for the season
for our developing team but we are definitely on the right track to having a
very successful year in what is shaping up to be a tough competition.
A couple of special mentions go to lil' CLARKIE for taking on the Windsor boys
on countless occasions bringing them down with no fear of his own safety,
STEVEN played solid through the middle and made excellent inroads. and the
mini try scoring machine in ANTONIO showed he can rip it with the big boys
and still score tries as he builds on his tally for the year. JORDZ, TYLER,
AARON had strong attacking games with MATT, JAI and HATCHER
complementing the attack with solid defense on the fringes. PARMY CAELAN
and SCOOBY Controled the ruck area and kicking game very well giving
players like SHAUN, KOSO, and ARONA enough space to try lay the platform
down for the young speedsters to find holes.
Overall an excellent performance, We are a team of slow starts with strong
finishes so boys our focus is simple....we need to get stuck in and do the
business early on in the game and then give a strong finish to put them
away.
3 Points = Antonio, 2 points = Clarkie, 1 Point = STEVEN.
BLACKTOWN WORKERS 24

It had to happen; we have come back to earth with a thud after good
trial form and a big win last week to now suffer a loss that we hope
will be a big lesson to us all. A number of factors stood out regarding
this loss with two glaring areas of concern; our completion rate was
under 50% and a 7 to 5 penalty count against us just gave Workers
way too much ball. Compare this to last week’s game with a much
reduced possession turnover and it’s not too difficult to see how we
can improve. We made far too many basic mistakes, incorrect play
the ball, forward passes, loose carries, high tackles and way too
many missed tackles. I think we were lucky to finish just the 8 points
in arrears. That’s the negatives however there were also some
positives to come out of the game with the big guys Douglas Omeli
and Jayden Moore with some powerful runs and solid defence, one
massive tackle by Jarryd Tucker that shook the ground late in the
game and a two try effort by Joshua Wright that at least kept us
competitive. Our new guys Dylan Rayner, Joshua Payne, Bayley
Webber, Benjamin Wanstall and Douglas Omeli all appear to
have settled in well and will improve more as the season goes on. We
missed Jaydean Savage today who was away for the weekend and
injuries to Zane Long and Daniel O’Brien didn’t help our cause but
hopefully with a full turnout at training during the week and
everybody back on deck we will go into round 3 with a more positive
outlook. We all know how good this side is and our capabilities so
learn from this defeat and let’s get the Australian Real Estate-
Westbus team back into the winners circle. Thank you to Mick Knoll
for his efforts as second trainer today and to Jack Allison for touch
duty, thanks guys.
First I would like to congratulate Ben Bannister on his 100th game on
Saturday for the comets, he had a blinder of a game with good
tackles, good line brakes and a top try, but we won't mention his kick
at goal. The boys started off the half slow with Quakers Hill being the
first to score, then we muscled up in defense got the ball back and
returned a few brilliant trys back of our own. We continued scoring
trys into the second half. Boys we played a much better game this
week with our defense we moved up and shut down all there big
blokes and our ball sets worked good we forced the mistakes in their
half. The key to wining our games is CONSISTENCY. We have to play
hard in defense and attack every week. Our front rowers who played
very well together made alot off meters and scored points, we had
our halves and backs working to gather to score most of out points.
Good talk out there boys well done , our try scores were: Ryan
scoring 2, Ben, Mitchell, Tom, Liam, Kyle, and Jayden all scoring 1
each.
After our loss last week we were hoping to turn things around this
week. Our training during the week was a bit lack luster as was our
warm up on the day. For the first half we played how we trained and
allowed an early try to Blacktown. For the rest of the half our defense
was good with some great desperation tackling stopping Blacktown
time and time again as we spent most of the half in our own territory.
As good as our tackling was we were not moving up off the line and
Blacktown scored again right on the half time siren. After a good
talking to at half time the boys looked a bit better in the 2 nd half help
out by several penalties to us via some head high and spear tackling
from Blacktown. After a few chances we managed to score with 3
minutes to go with only one minute to go by the time Blacktown
kicked off. With only a few seconds on the clock Kallani crossed over
after a brilliant solo run to give us the lead and the game. We were
very lucky but 2 points is 2 points and we will take it. The coaching
staff will be looking for a lot of improvement over the next week or so
but congratulations to the boys on their win. Mitch E took out man of
the match after a really solid game in attack and defense. Mitch J
took out the tackling award with a really strong defensive game.
Kallani got the parents pick after his game winning try and Luke got
First of all I would like to apologise for no report last week and welcome
everyone back for season 2011 in the off season we were lucky to recruit 7
new player to the team they are Jayden , Latham , Jarrod, Austin, Honey,
Isiah and we welcomed Zac and Lachie back into the fold.
The trials were an up and down period with some really good wins and 1 poor
performance and after last weeks bad start we really turned up today
knowing that we had to perform a lot better than we did last week and with a
better attitude.
Todays game was never going to be easy as Brothers are in the top 4 teams
in the comp but we really did show up today and were dominant from the
kickoff with the team scoring numerous tries with good off loads and in
defence we were just brutal at times with the boys working together to slow
them down in the play balls and Brothers only being able to score off one bad
attempt in defence .
In attack we saw some plan moves work which saw Jake march down the
field to score one of his 3 tries and the boys really working together today
with good offloads it was also good to see some of the tip ons working today
with this catching the brothers defence out numerous times.
Standouts for me today were Caleb who really gave the side the direction
they needed and had a good kicking game aswell and Jayden at the back
really came into the game today after quite start to the year I think he will be
a game breaker for me later in the season.in the forwards Jake really seemed
to be hitting some good form and will get better as the season progresses
and Bryce who had Bracers put on during the week really was handful for the
defence every time he touched the ball and I thought Jarrod had a good
game aswell with some nice offloads and great defence and Lachie Kenny
really worked hard in defence aswell.
So boys lets get back to training this week and work hard again as we have
Glenmore and I am expecting a big game from everyone. Also to all the
parents we have a bunnings BBQ on Saturday so if we can get some help it
will be really appreciated.
This is our first report for the season as we started with the BYE. So i
would like to start saying thank you to our sponsor MORTGAGE
CHOISE ST.MARY'S who have sponsered us for two years know, so
thank you very much. Also a special thanks to Connie Catlin who has
become our manager not because we asked but because she could
see that we needed one,so a thanks to Connie and welcome
aboard. We also have to thank those to 12 year old boys who backed
up for us and got themselves into trouble by playing better in our
game than they did in there own,THOMAS and MITCHELL,THANK
YOU!
We played Quakers Hill on the weekend and for a side that had
been mercied the week prior certainly showed up to play some
serious footy. Quakers started on fire which i think put the wind up
our boys and threw us of our game plan, one out running from the
forwards, no real back line movements going on, lots of drop ball,
and silly penalties all going against us. To the boys credit, they
refused Quakers any points considering they stood on our try line for
alot of the first half. With a few stern instructions at half time our
boys certainly turned things around in the second half, executing
forward movements and backline movements the way that we know
they can.
An excellent game from Tyler and Cameron who constantly took the
ball forward with aggression and Zac who is one of if not the smallest
on our team, showed absolutley no respect for his own well being in
defence GOOD JOB BOYS! Tries go to Brodie(2), Brad(2), Roza(1),
Tyler(1), Thomas(1). Goals to Mark 1 from 3 and Drew 2 from 4.
Last but not least we have a boy playing his 100th game this comimg
Yes, again it was a loss against Windsor but in the true spirit of the game the
boys did themselves proud standing up to the barrage of the Windsor wolves
in the first half. They scored 2 tries in the first half and definitely different in
the second half. Yes again they can hold their heads up high going within
inches of the try line to win the game. The boys went in for 2 tries in the
second half with the rampaging Ethan (Blocker) Corliss running over the
defence from the Windsor wolves, at one stage carrying 4 defenders over the
try line. It was no pain and never give up attitude from Ethan. Steven (Legs)
Cuizon our new boy in the team and his first time to play a game with the
team played like I have to be there to support and that he did. If ever there
was a break Steven was there first. Zac (Z) Rowley was another stand out
player in the game with his sidestep and speed created room for the bigger
boys to run into. Jacob (Bruzer) Curcuruto lived up to his nickname with his
tackles, there was no one going to pass him. No Pain no Gain was the
attitude. There were 14 players who played the game and they all individually
did what they had to do to win that game but they ran out of time. Ethan did
go over for 2 more tries but they were disallowed. Players are Eoin (Rory)
McRory, Jamie (Smiley) Dlouhy, Brendon (Brenny) Fuller, Jacoda (jack)
Tubnor, Ryan (Razor) Bemrose, Trent (Ranga) Bemrose, Nickolas (Nick)
Marinkovich, Save (Bull) Ingleton, Brendon (Truck) Lawrie and Ben (Bear)
Donnelly all played their part in trying. Hold your heads up high boy as you
greatly appreciated by our team… The players, coaching staff,
families and supporters. We hope you enjoy our year with us. Round
2, saw the Comets take on Blacktown City at ‘The Cauldron’. After a
solid performance in Round 1, beating an enthusiastic St Marys outfit,
the boys were looking to make it two on the trot. They didn’t
disappoint, as the boys got away to a fantastic start, completing their
sets and scoring a couple of early tries. The defence was massive, to
say the least, and never allowed City into the game. Our only real
opponent in the first half was ourselves, with silly little errors
creeping into our game late in the first half. The team went into the
break leading 14-0, and were confident to fix the errors and complete
the demolition job they started. The 14/2’s were relentless in defence
and attack, and were clinical in their dissection of the opposition.
Everyone had a great game today, and the boys contributed to the
victory equally. The end score shows exactly how much the boys
changed gear in the second half. Great effort fellas… Remember, we
need to continue working hard!!! The big games are still to come,
with some exceptional opposition still to come. Darcy Rankmore,
won the Players Player award for this week, with Dayton Fernandez
runner-up. A special mention to the Red Cattle Dog, Brendan Tait
who was everywhere. He has the heart of a front row forward with
the body of a little half back. Continue to strive and always work
towards our goals. Thanks for the effort boys. Thanks to Nicky
Firstly let me thank all of our sponsors for the year and a big
welcome to all of the players. Though I had missed filing our report
from our first game we done well against the Rooty Hill team which
took out the Division 6 Title last year by mercy rule. Due credit has
to be given though to the Rooty Hill team for fronting with only 11
players and scoring a few great tries against the boys. This is what
Rugby League is about, playing the game regardless of the odds and
trying as hard as you can!!!!
Round 2 pipped us against the Blacktown City 15's who I will say are
probably the biggest pack I have seen through all of the teas in
the 15's Division. There was no expectations put on the boys and this
we have drilled (trainers & myself) into the boys since we managed
to start training together. With a team complied of old players,
new(ish) players and first year players, the initial challenge was to
ensure all players got to a level where they could safe on the field.
Through all of our trainings we have only concentrated on 2 things,
Fitness & Defence. From the kick off we started well with some great
defence in the middles which allowed us to limit the yardage there big
boys were making and force there team into errors. This allowed us
to take a 6 - 0 lead. The first half was a game of chess with both
teams defending well but lacking execution with ball in hand. An
error by us on there goal line cost us with the next play resulting in a
run away try to the Blacktown Team. The 2nd half was a lot tougher
with another big boy entering the field for the Blacktown team and
called on more defence from our boys. With the heat our boys really
fatigued, but to there credit they never gave in. All players put in a
great effort and though we went down 24-22 all boys really stood up
in the face of such a big team. From day 1 the 15/3's have been told
and will continue to be told that results will not drive this team, team
work and great team ethics will drive this team. We will head back
into training with a hard emphasis on dominating in tackles & fitness.
We thank all of our vocal supporters and hope to see you all there
again through out the entire season. This is our team with our
us out you did a great job. We started the game with all guns blazing
and quickley raced to a 16-0 & this was without even kicking any
goals, and then half time greated us. The second half started the way
i expected with Brothers coming out and throwing the ball around and
in quick consession the scoreline was now 16-12. Brothers were now
starting to dominate & our boys really needed to get back to our
game plan and to hold the footy. This occured and we came away
with a gutsy win. We will welcome back two of our Norths rep players
The 16/2’s would like to thank the following sponsors for their
with the team for the 3 rd year in a Row), JKE Shade, who has come
back for a second year, and one of our new sponsors KwikFix –
Heavy Vehicle repairs and the ongoing support from Mick at Mathew
Meats – St Clair It was the grand final replay and the bragging
rights were on the line. Both teams had players new and old and
were ready for a tough match. The team had learnt from the
previous week that if they hit the line at speed and hit the holes at
speed and power that things would open up and the rest would be
history. Just on queue it happened. After some great defence and
powerful running the backs took the line on and with a fantastic pass
from Riley to a steamrolling Adam who beat a couple of players
flicked it onto Jay to score out wide his first of 2 tries. It was a great
start to the game. About 5 mins later the same thing occurred and
again the backs were having a field day with some great razzle dazzle
ball movement Riley split the defence to score his first of 2 tries. This
was followed up by Jay and Wayne R to round out the first half 22 –
nil. Unlike last year we found 2 goal kickers and with both converting
from out wide it was good to see. To be honest the backs only had
good ball because of the foundation laid by the forwards. Wayne M,
Mat, Louie, John & Aiden played it hard and fast and the hits kept on
coming. They were relentless in defence and attack. The rest of the
forwards chimed in and all in all, the whole forward pack played a
great game, they did not stop. The second half was a more defensive
effort with the ball going from one end to the other. The goal line
defence from the guys was stronger then before and held them out
for most of the second half. It wasn’t until a small lapse in play and a
bit of luck that sore Brothers score. In the end the final score was 28
– 4 with 2 tries each to Jay & Riley, along with Wayne R picking up a
try also. In the Goal kicking Adam kicked 3 from 4 and Wayne R1
from 1. Yes we had a great win and many positives from it but there
is still room for improvement. This week meat tray winner was
Adams mum – well done hope you enjoy. Once again thanks to our
PENRITH WARATAHS

Today we took on Penrith waratahs on their home ground. After last
week’s loss it was crucial that we get a confidence win. We started
confidently enough with tries to BJ, Mick and Luke moat we went out
to a 14 nil lead, but as per last week the boys got into their heads
that this was going to be a easy game. Well how wrong they were,
and with some indifferent plays waratahs got 2 tries and they were
back in it, by st Clair doing things that junior teams do, we didn’t
commit to play as a team and waiting around for someone to do
something.
The 2 nd have was full of errors by St Clair and with this came
frustration and we got ourselves in to a bit of a hole, with some
ordinary plays, but with this also came some good defence and a
improvement with the ball near the opposition try line and a couple of
tries we stretched the score line out a late try to waratahs made the
score a little respectable, a 70m intercept by Luke came at the
correct time.
Today’s man of match was Luke moat who had a excellent game from
dummy half and his defence around the ruck also close behind was BJ
and Luke Dossal, who was players player. Declan made some great
runs early, Demo continued his good early form ,and dean who came
on ,displayed that he wants his spot back with some strong defence..
Tome had his game of strong defence and running. There is a lot of
improvement left and this will come as each week goes past, but the
attitude needs to change at training.
we were hoping to build on our first up win. Our pre game warm up
was again very quiet and our attitude was again not where it should
have been and this reflected in our first half performance which was
unorganized, sloppy, lacking intensity and from a spectators point of
view very poor to watch and I went out of my way to ask a regular
follower of the team what his thoughts were and embarrassing was
the response I got. At half time our players were asked about why we
are playing the football we are and it was a very quiet huddle as not
too many players could explain why a team with so many division 1
players are playing with no enthusiasm and it is being left to 2 or 3
players to continually get the side out of trouble. Although the final
scoreline showed us running out convincing winners the type of
football being played is very messy and is nowhere near the type of
football this side is capable of. I believe the only explanation I can
offer is attitude, not only on game day but at training, turning up late
for games, playing as individuals and not as a unit, Gavin & Jay can
only give out a game plan what happens out on the field is left up to
the players and the amount of dropped ball, missed tackles, soft
tries, allowing the ball to go out of the kickoff 3 times tells me our
mind is not on the job and it is only a matter of time before
somebody lets us know about it on the scoreboard. People will look at
the scoreline and say I am being too critical but I invite you to ask
some of the supporters who witnessed our performance yesterday for
their opinion and then you will see that this side at the moment are
taking too many shortcuts and not doing the hard work that is
required. With some hard work at training we are hoping that all this
starts to turn around soon and we can play some positive attacking
footy. To our sponsors PIRTEK @ SMITHFIELD, ERECT SAFE
