PRESIDENTS REPORT
Greetings all, hoping this finds you all well, make sure you get plenty of rest and recreation over the summer
break as it looks to be a busy year with a full programme. The dates for Collie have been confirmed and
are available for the HCMC whereas we are waiting for our dates at Wanneroo to be finalised apart from
the November Australian Nationals which are locked in. Lots of track time at both venues so hopefully we
can cater for all comers with three (3) tuning days at Collie, four including the season closer, four race days
all confirmed and another five(5)days racing at Wanneroo , apart from the Nationals, if approved. It looks
to be a big year for our club and it would make it even better if we can see you all out there on the start
line, good hunting on that.
Last Club General meeting for 2012 is next Wednesday (19th Dec) at the Caversham clubrooms and as
it is a busy time of the year for all we hope to keep the content light following a BBQ sausage sizzle and
refreshments kicking off at 6.30pm, so please feel welcome to come along and enjoy the company of your
fellow clubbies.
NOTICE OF AGM: The AGM (Annual General Meeting) will be held on the third Wednesday of February
2013 and will follow suit each February. This has been organised to keep in line with the requirement to
be held within three months of the end of our financial year (30th November) so don't muck around and
make sure your memberships are current to be able to vote and have your say for the executive and
committee elections. This will be an interesting year with a very full programme and holding the Australian
Nationals here at Wanneroo and although there will be plenty to do I'm hoping we will get a dynamic and
motivated group to oversee this, with assistance and help from our excellent and generous group of
volunteers and helpers so don't be shy, we have lots to do and you will be part of a team who are going to
make this happen.
The Historic Nationals were held last month at Eastern Creek in Sydney, now known as The Sydney
Motorsport Park by the Post Classic Racing Association of NSW and showcased all classes including the
newly formed Period 6. This track is a pleasure to ride and this was taken advantage of by myself, Brian
Richardson, Brian Donovan and Adam Senior plus their support groups and proved to a great event with
a rained out qualifying making way for two days of fine weather racing. Adam showed them once again
that the business is at the front end of the pack and Brian Richardson once again set the standard for LC
racing. Well done to all who went as this is a big effort to represent our club at a national level, you can
relax a little now as you won't have to travel too far next year although I don't know if Adam can physically
ride in any more classes than he does now.

On a final but sadder note the landscape of the committee has changed with the resignation of both Bill
Hargrave as Treasurer and Annie Tregger as Secretary, who have decided to step aside due to circumstances
arising from a matter where grievances were raised over the handling of a disciplinary dispute concerning
another member of the committee, who has also stepped aside, after a ballot was taken to revoke his
membership. I know this matter will carry some steam into the future but please people, although we are
passionate about our sport we need to bear in mind that we need to rise above personnal grievences on
all sides and work towards the future our club.
On this note I would like to thank Bill and Annie for their tireless contributions and efforts above and beyond
wish them both all the very best for the future, and look forward to seeing them both enjoy their racing in
the coming seasons. Big shoes to fill I know, but have your say at the AGM and please remember we all
come together to race and promote historic motorcycling and although you may not like everybody, at least
deal with each other in a respectful manner in the interest of the sport.
Merry Christmas to all , don't over do it as the season kicks off in March and Stay Upright, regards
Craig Mitchell #32 (sometimes #31)
THEY ARE “THE HUMPHREYS” NOW!
SAM CLARKE REVELS IN WILDCARD RIDE AT MOTO GP
HCMC club member Sam Clarke (16) has returned from the 2012 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in
Victoria after he received a wildcard to enter the Moto3 event last month. Clarke qualified for the race
in 31st place, despite crashing in the first qualifying session and finished the race in 25th position. A
fantastic effort by Sam and we wish Sam all the best with the bright racing future he has ahead of him.
BRYAN STARING GETS GRESINI MOTOGP RIDE
West Aussie Bryan Staring will ride the Gresini CRT bike, contesting the 2013 MotoGP World Championship
on board the Go&Fun Honda Gresini CRT bike. Bryan is a three-time national champion in 125GP,
Supersport and Superbike. In 2012 he contested the FIM Superstock 1000 series, and also rode as a
WSBK wild-card for Pedercini in his home Phillip Island round. He will ride alongside Alvaro Bautista,
the Spaniard starting his second season on Gresini's Honda RC213V in 2013.

FREMANTLE MEN’S SHED FILM AND SUNSET RIDE
Thought the members may be interested in a ride and film I am organising with the Vintage Motorcycle
club of WA and the Fremantle Mens Shed. The details are as follows: Saturday 2 February 2013
A sunset ride starting from Fremantle Men’s Shed (Cnr Nanine St and Stevens Street White Gum Valley)
6.00pm ish (will update closer to the day) 6ish
Passing through Centre of Fremantle, along Victoria Quay over the bridge and along the beach to
Cottesloe returning to Men’s Shed for a BBQ, bonfire, and refreshments followed by screening of the
film Twice Upon a Caravan under the stars, on an outdoor screen.
In 1932 Robert Fulton rode a 500cc Douglas around the world. The trip is well documented in the book
“Once upon a Caravan”. The film is made up of the 16mm film that Fulton shot on this epic trip. 40,000
miles 20 countries and 3 continents, this is an extraordinary record of a changing world seen through
the eyes and mind of a venturesome traveller.
After the film there will be a casual get together with the shed crew around the bonfire for chats, camaraderie
and a few refreshments with possibly a bit of impromptu music.
There is plenty of trailer parking at the Men’s Shed, while we will have a few sausages available you
may want to bring something to sling on the BBQ or toast on the fire. You may also want to bring a camp
chair or rug to sit on and the refreshments of your choice.
All are welcome.
OFFER OF HELP FOR ISLAND CLASSIC - Roger Parham - email: rog-erp@live.com
Hi Mick, if anybody is looking for help at the 2013 Island Classic I am available - as long as I can book
a ticket in time.
2012 AWARDS PRESENTATION/ANNUAL DINNER - Mick Tesser
Well, there is no doubt about it, the night was one of the best ever in regards to the food - even my partner
Colleen said the oysters were the best she had ever had, and the very hard to please food-wise Paul
Barfoot also praised the quality and quantity of the tucker! Typically I was gassbagging to anyone would
was unlucky enough to sit near me and only had a bit of lettuce and a chicken nibble or two so I can’t
tell you what the rest of the food was like, other than that all I have spoken to have said how good it was.
The smorgasborg type serving system worked very well, no wait-persons struggling with plates of food
between tight spaces, cold food on plates or small serving portions, and queues went very quickly so
everyone filled themselves up to the brim no doubt.
The bar staff were kept on their toes throughout the night, and those dancers amongst us, (well I did get
up and boogie once at least!), like the Thompsons and others, jived all night along to the tunes spun on
the turntable and had a few over-indulgers singing along merrily.
The presentations themselves were very amusing and entertaining, particularly the speeches of Rob
Clarke, rubbing it in to young Sam Clarke about how many trophies an “old bugger” was accumulating
compared to the “young guns”. Thank you speeches were generally kept very short for some reason this
year, maybe we were more interested in the food and drinks than our usual speechifying - usually you
can’t shut us up! Club Patron Steve Riley gave a very good talk about the contribution Alan Warner had
made to our club and our sport in general over many years when recognising the awarding of Life
Membership to Alan Warner (who was unable to attend). Bob Humphreys accepted the award on Alan’s
behalf.
All in all a great night and a big thank you in particular goes to Bill Hargrave and whoever helped him
out setting up and running the event and cleaning up the next day.
