10. Ensemble Materials Loan Deposit
There is a refundable charge of €50 to cover the loan of ensemble materials. Cheques
should be made payable to the ‘Music Department, NUIM’.
11. References
Staff are generally happy to write references for students. Please note that at least one
week's notice should be given. A copy of an up-to-date curriculum vitae must
accompany any reference request.
12. Scholarships
The Governing Authority appoints a Music Scholar who is elected annually on the
recommendation of the Professor and Head of Department. The stipend attaching to the
scholarship is currently €2,000 and the Scholar may be required to perform certain
duties as determined by the Professor of Music. The Scholarship is awarded to the
student gaining highest marks at the end of second year across the three degree
programmes. In 2009-2010 the Music Scholar is Aoife Cuddihy (3BA).
13. Socrates Study
Selected students with an appropriate knowledge of French or German may spend a
period of study at the Universities of Louvain, Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium or Université
Jean Monnet, Saint-Étienne, France, University of Keele in the UK, or University of
Wuppertal, Germany and University of Florida. Interested students should seek further
information from Dr Alison Hood.
