In 1999 a group of local music instructors united to form the Island Music Teacher’s Guild, currently known as Island Music Center. In 2002, with the help of community volunteers, the organization became incorporated as non-profit, sponsoring and organizing music events and becoming a musicians’ network as well as a center for teaching. In 2005 Island Music Center moved to its current location in Rolling Bay. Island Music Center is housed in 10,000 square feet of space containing 12 music studios, 4 classrooms, a music library, and a concert hall. IMC utilizes the best instructors from the Kitsap and Seattle areas. Students of all ages participate in recitals that help them communicate their art to others, an essential part of the learning experience. In addition to recitals, the concert hall, which off ers a top-quality grand piano and professional sound and recording equipment, is available for community music events of all genres for entertainment and inspiration.
