SUBJECT: Sunshine Proposal between the San Jose Unified School District
(SJUSD) and American Federation of State, County and Municipal
Employees, (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, Local 101, Council 57 (ACTION)
REQUESTED ACTION: That the Board of Education approve the joint reopening of negotiations
with American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees,
(AFSCME), AFL-CIO, Local 101, Council 57 and the District for the
2009-2010 contract year.
BACKGROUND: The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees,
(AFSCME), AFL-CIO, Local 101, Council 57 is the exclusive bargaining
agent for classified workers in the following classifications: Electronics,
Engineering and Inspection; Information Systems; Maintenance;
Operations; Transportation; and Food Services in the classified service of
the District. The San Jose Unified School District (SJUSD) and the
American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees,
(AFSCME), agree that there are articles and appendices needing changes
(additions, revisions, deletions). We therefore agree to open and address
any and all articles and appendices that require changes.
