City
Shopping in the center of Copenhagen is mostly concentrated around the area of the
pedestrian streets i.e. “Strøget” and “Købmagergade”. This area contains two major
department stores, Magasin and Illum but also a lot of small shops. Just next to these two
major shopping streets, many small shops can be found and is worth a leisurely walk.
You can also visit Fields which is the largest shopping center in Scandinavia. It is
situated right next to “Ørestaden Station” (approximately 15 minutes by metro from the
city center).
Nørrebro, Østerbro and Vesterbro
We can also recommend Gammel Kongevej, Frederiksberg Centret and Godthåbsvej in
the district of Frederiksberg. Østerbrogade and Nordre Frihavnsgade in the district of
Østerbro and the area of Nørrebrogade and Fælledvej in the district of Nørrebro is worth
visiting.
Lots of other shopping facilities can also be recommended but it is not possible to go into
further details here. We recommend that you ask your fellow students for further
information.
Daily shopping
The day to day shopping can be done in different grocery’s shops, ranging from discount
shops to specialized and rather expensive shops. They are placed within walking distance.
Among these we would like to mention the following shops:

Kvickly: Ordinary
Føtex: Ordinary
Superbrugsen: Ordinary
Super Best: Ordinary
Irma: Supermarket and Delicatessen
Also small grocery shops (local) can be very good with a wide selection of goods.
Useful words when shopping in supermarkets:
Meat: = Kød
Veal = Kalvekød
Beef = Oksekød
Minced Meat = Hakket kød
