Priestsr and Ross's rapids, on the Pisquouse or Win-atsh-<br />

a-pain river, the En-te-at-keon, Che-laun lake, and the<br />

Kit-haw or Barrier river. The name of Pisquouse, however,<br />

properly refers to a single locality on the river, known<br />

to the Yakamas as Win-atsh-a-pan. (Pet. Ex. 485, pp. 27, 32-47)<br />

37. We have in our Finding of Fact No. 5 set forth in part the<br />

written instructions to Governor Stevens concerning the negotiation of<br />

treaties with the Indian tribes of the Washington Territory. And in<br />

our Finding of Zact No. 7 we have set forth the facts concerning the<br />

participation by the chiefs of the various tribes involved in the<br />

Yakima Treaty. Of the fourteen tribes which were named in the treaty<br />

as parties, three, namely the Klinquit, Li-ay-was, and Shyiks, cannot<br />

be identified todzy. The Indians who signed the treaty have been<br />

identified as follows :<br />

Kamaiakun was the acknowledged head chief of a11 of the<br />

Indian tribes, bands and groups that were parties to<br />

the Yakima Treaty, and signed said treaty for and on<br />

behalf of all. of said tribes, bands and groups, He<br />

was also the Chief of the aboriginal Yakima Tribe, and<br />

was of Yakima-Palus ancestry,<br />

Skloom was the brother of Kamaiakun, and was also of Yakima-<br />

Palus ancestry,<br />

Owhi was a brother of ~amaiakui, and chief of the Kittitas,<br />

or Upper Yakima, and was of mixed ancestry, including Palus.<br />

Te-cole-kun was Chief of the Wenatchee, and represented the<br />

Pisquouse group, which included the Wenatchee, Columbia,<br />

Entiat and Chelan at the Yakima Treaty negotiations.<br />

La-Hoom was a chief at Entiat, and represented the Pisquouse<br />

group at the Yakima Treaty negotiations.<br />

Me-ni-nock was chief of the Skeen.<br />

Elit Palmer was a chief of the Skeen.<br />

Wish-och-knipits was a chief of the Skeen.
