AEL/ASM button<br />
The camera measures brightness of the object and automatically set the best exposure<br />
value. If difference between the exposure values of the object and background is too great,<br />
use the AEL button to manually set the exposure value against sunlight or in strong light.<br />
This button is available in the PROGRAM, Aperture priority(A), Shutter priority(S), MySET<br />
and MOVIE CLIP mode.<br />
Use the automatic exposure lock.<br />
1. Ensure the subject in the centre of the autofocus frame.<br />
2. Move the camera to point the automatic focus mark on the object of desired exposure.<br />
3. Press the AEL button to lock the exposure and display the AEL icon in the bottom of the<br />
LCD.<br />
4. Focus the camera again and press the shutter button again for shooting.<br />

You can use the ASM button to select the Aperture Value and Shutter speed in the Manual mode.<br />
Using the ASM button in the M mode<br />
1. Rotate the MODE DIAL to select the M mode.<br />
2. Press the ASM button and the aperture value and<br />
shutter speed are displayed. To select the aperture<br />
value or shutter speed, press the ASM button.<br />
The selected item is then highlighted in red.<br />
3. Rotate the jog dial to select the aperture value and<br />
shutter speed. Press the SHUTTER button to take the<br />
picture.<br />
In the Manual mode, the exposure information will be displayed by pressing the shutter<br />
button down halfway.<br />
