<strong>the</strong> <strong>Norsborg</strong> <strong>Metro</strong> <strong>Depot</strong><br />
We have now begun <strong>the</strong> process of c<strong>on</strong>structing a new<br />
<strong>Metro</strong> depot in <strong>Norsborg</strong>. The <strong>Norsborg</strong> <strong>Depot</strong> is expected<br />
to come into service in 2016 and will be used to clean,<br />
maintain and repair <strong>Metro</strong> rolling stock.<br />
To ensure that <strong>the</strong> depot does not take up more space than<br />
necessary, it will mostly be c<strong>on</strong>structed underground, in<br />
Eriksbergsåsen, where <strong>the</strong>re will be enough room to park<br />
<strong>Metro</strong> carriages. There will also be cleaning, repair and<br />
servicing facilities al<strong>on</strong>g Hallundavägen, with offices, staff<br />
rooms, and so <strong>on</strong>.<br />
While we are building, <strong>the</strong> work will be noticeable.<br />
The planned depot building west of <strong>Norsborg</strong> stati<strong>on</strong><br />
will require c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> transports via Hallundavägen to<br />
<strong>the</strong> E4. To enable c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> and blasting work in<br />
Eriksbergsåsen, a work tunnel will enter <strong>the</strong> ridge from<br />
Sankt Botvids väg. C<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> transports will also be<br />
exiting from this tunnel.<br />
Blasting and drilling will be carried out between 07.00 and<br />
22.00 every working day. After 22.00, blasted rock will<br />
be excavated from <strong>the</strong> site. You can read more about <strong>the</strong><br />

beforehand at sl.se/norsborg.<br />
<strong>Norsborg</strong> has been chosen for <strong>the</strong> new <strong>Metro</strong> depot because<br />
it is both close to <strong>the</strong> terminus and because <strong>the</strong> local rock<br />
is of good quality. The proximity of <strong>the</strong> depot to <strong>the</strong> terminus<br />
reduces driving distances, which is beneficial for <strong>the</strong><br />
envir<strong>on</strong>ment.<br />
The new depot is part of a whole system that will pave<br />
<strong>the</strong> way for <strong>the</strong> future of <strong>Metro</strong> services in Stockholm and<br />
which also includes new rolling stock and a new signalling<br />
system. The new initiatives will enable greater reliability for<br />
<strong>Metro</strong> Red Line services as well as expanding <strong>the</strong>m.<br />
In c<strong>on</strong>juncti<strong>on</strong> with <strong>the</strong> depot c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong>, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Metro</strong><br />
stati<strong>on</strong>s at <strong>Norsborg</strong> and Hallunda will also be upgraded.<br />
Happening Right Now<br />
We are now beginning <strong>the</strong> surveying process. This means<br />
that we will be inspecting buildings in <strong>the</strong> area – checking<br />
for visible damage, c<strong>on</strong>ducting leakage inspecti<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong> ducts<br />
and flues, surveying chimneys and so <strong>on</strong>. During <strong>the</strong>se inspecti<strong>on</strong>s,<br />
we will need to access buildings and apartments.<br />
Going forward, we will start establishing <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong><br />
facilities, for example site huts, materials storage areas,<br />
space for vehicles and machinery, and so <strong>on</strong>. We will also<br />
build a stormwater p<strong>on</strong>d, remove existing tracks, fence off<br />
<strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> site and carry out a certain amount<br />
of blasting.<br />
We regret that you may experience some disrupti<strong>on</strong> during<br />
<strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> period. We will do our utmost to minimize<br />
this and hope that you appreciate <strong>the</strong> final results.<br />
Please respect <strong>the</strong> barriers!<br />
There are several reas<strong>on</strong>s for <strong>the</strong> barriers around<br />
<strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> site, <strong>the</strong> most important of which<br />
is safety! Please respect <strong>the</strong>se barriers, for your<br />
own safety as well as <strong>the</strong> safety of o<strong>the</strong>rs.
Service <str<strong>on</strong>g>Informati<strong>on</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
Kärsbyvägen<br />
Skarpbrunnavägen will be closed at its western end until<br />
fur<strong>the</strong>r notice. This means that <strong>the</strong> normal route of Bus 708<br />
will have to be changed and that a smaller bus will serve<br />
Skarpbrunnavägen/Karsby Internati<strong>on</strong>al School. During <strong>the</strong><br />
c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> period, <strong>the</strong> new route will be Tre Källors väg –<br />
Tumbakopplet – Hallundavägen. Bus 708 will c<strong>on</strong>nect with<br />
its normal route at Karsby Internati<strong>on</strong>al School.<br />
The bus stops at Kärsbyvägen, Skarpbrunnavägen, Sankt<br />
Albans Väg, and Eriksbergsåsen will not be served during<br />
<strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> period.<br />
Normal services will be replaced by a free shuttle service<br />
from 07.00 until 19.00.<br />
Pedestrians and Cyclists<br />
During <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> period, we are planning to build a<br />
provisi<strong>on</strong>al pedestrian and cycle bridge between Skarpbrunna<br />
vägen and Hallundavägen. It will cross directly over<br />
<strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> site via a stair tower with a bike ramp.<br />

Until c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> is complete, <strong>the</strong> bridge will provide a safe<br />
c<strong>on</strong>necti<strong>on</strong>, particularly for children, between Skarpbrunnavägen<br />
and Karsby Internati<strong>on</strong>al School, as well as <strong>the</strong> sports<br />
ground.<br />
