Installation 2.2.2.1. Modifying the Hosts File Perform the following steps to modify the default hosts file on each XPC-L server and each XPC-L Control Workstation. Note: If you ordered an XPC-L system that included a cabinet for the Dorado Series server, the hosts file would have already been modified. The hosts file is also modified appropriately on each XPC-L Control Workstation. 1. Copy the default hosts file appropriate for your server type from the root of the installation CD-ROM to a diskette. For example, − For Dorado 300 systems, copy z:\Dorado 300\hosts to a:\hosts. − For Dorado 200 systems, copy z:\hosts to a:\hosts. 2. Log on to the active XPC-L Control Workstation as an administrator and use Windows Notepad to open the following file: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts The default file contains comments explaining the format of the entries it contains. 3. Log on to the backup XPC-L Control Workstation (if the backup XPC-L Control Workstation exists in your configuration) as an administrator and copy the hosts file from the diskette to the following location, replacing the existing file: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts 4. Log on to the primary XPC-L server as an administrator and copy the hosts file from the diskette to the following location, replacing the existing file: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts 5. Modify the hosts file for the XPC-L Server Maintenance LAN for your appropriate Platform. Also add this IP address to the hosts file of the Service Processor. 6. Log on to the secondary XPC-L server (if the secondary XPC-L server exists in your configuration) as an administrator and copy the hosts file from the diskette to the following location, replacing the existing file: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts 7. Modify the hosts file for the XPC-L server maintenance LAN for your appropriate platform. Also add this IP address to the hosts file of the Service Processor. 2–26 6885 3522–003
