16 VIERA SOUND A Pure, Clear Sound that Seems to Come Right from the Screen Advanced Smart Sound Speaker System The new speaker units we developed for this system offer outstanding clarity, rich bass, and superior sound localisation in the medium frequency range. We also developed speaker diaphragms made of eco-friendly bamboo fibres, achieving both a crisp, transparent treble sound and excellent environmental performance. A unique, improved passive radiator in the woofer also helps produce a clear, robust bass sound. * PZ/PY700 series, PX/PV700 series, LXD/LX700 series only ADVANCED ULTRA-SLIM SPEAKER UNIT The new Advanced Ultra-Slim Speaker Unit reproduces sounds all the way down to 350 Hz - the kind of deep sound, such as a male baritone voice, that was handled by the woofer in conventional systems. Even with its narrow aperture, the new speaker unit has superb directional characteristics, so everyone in the room enjoys outstanding sound quality. TWIN PASSIVE RADIATOR WOOFERS The woofers use an enhanced passive radiator system to deliver an incredibly deep, clear sound. Using asymmetrical, contoured edges to prevent the harmonic distortion that can occur with conventional passive radiator systems, this enhanced system delivers a clearer sound than bass reflex systems of the same size. Developed by SRS Labs, Inc., SRS TruSurround XT is a 3D sound reproduction technology that's based on the Head-Related Transfer Function - part of a theory that concerns the relationship between frequency change and the human ear's ability to determine the direction of a sound. This technology solves the problem of narrow "sweet spots," a shortcoming of ordinary stereo reproduction systems. Used in the PZ/PY700, PX/PV700, LXD/LX700 series and TH-65PX/PV600, it helps provide expansive surround sounds across a wide listening range. VIERA ECOLOGY Making Products More Easily Recyclable Lead-Free Products All VIERA plasma display panels are lead-free. This reduces the impact on the environment when recycling or disposing of them in the future. Big Screen with Energy-Saving Design High-Efficiency Operation With a plasma display panel, power consumption varies with the brightness of the displayed image. VIERA incorporates circuitry designed to use electrical power efficiently, according to the scene. This helps minimize power consumption and reduce your electric bills. Panasonic's care for the environment extends to manufacturing as well. For example, VIERA circuit boards are made using lead-free solder. Long-Life Design - 60,000 Hours of Viewing Fun Long Service Life VIERA's plasma display panels are designed to provide a service life of around 60,000 hours, giving you years and years of superb entertainment. There is no backlight that loses brightness over time, so you can count on high-quality images for many years. Ecological Plant Facilities New Amagasaki Plant Opens as World Demand Continues to Climb Panasonic's new Amagasaki Plant began operation on September 16, 2005, giving the company a new base for manufacturing plasma display panels. The new plant boasts the world's largest PDP production capacity and is slated to produce more than five million PDPs in 2006. The Amagasaki Plant is a key part of Panasonic's response to the fast-growing worldwide demand for thin, large-screen PDP units. External Walls with Photocatalytic Coating The external walls of the factory building are covered with a special photocatalytic coating. This coating also reduces harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx). The NOx-reducing effects of the coating on the factory building is said to equal the effect achieved by about 1,800 poplar trees. Hybrid Power Generation The outdoor lights on the factory grounds are powered by a Kaze Kamome (Wind Seagull) hybrid generator that utilizes solar energy and wind power to produce electricity. Use of Rainwater The sprinklers that water the plants and trees on the factory site use rainwater stored in a tank, instead of tap water. 17
