2 On the Cover Greetings from Monroe! For East Snohomish County residents like me, going to college in Monroe couldn’t be more convenient. I’m thrilled to tell you that you can now take business classes – and earn a business degree – at Everett Community College’s East County Campus in Monroe. This is just the latest excellent program offered at the almost two-year-old location (in the Lake Tye building just off Highway 2). We have a great location, knowledgeable and friendly faculty and staff, fantastic courses, and great views of the Cascade Mountains and Lake Tye. You can take all the classes for an associate degree here in Monroe. EvCC’s East County Campus also offers two business degrees, and you can take all your classes here in two or three years (depending on whether you attend full- or part-time). This Winter I’ll teach accounting and Excel. In my classroom, you’ll get a strong dose of real-world examples taken from my 30-plus years of accounting and business experience. Even if you don’t want to pursue a business degree, I encourage you to try out the new classes. No matter what your career goals are or what you’re passionate about, chances are there’s a business component to it. Understanding some basic business and financial principles will help you in both your personal life and your professional career. It’s very satisfying for me to share my own knowledge and experiences and maybe make a difference for someone’s life. I cannot think of a better way to change the world than one student at a time.
