The export of exhibitions is a big topic these days. Once a trade fair concept has proven successful in one country or
even gained a position as the leading fair, it is a logical next step for the organisers to try it in other countries or even
on other continents. Although the conditions may be completely different in other places, an established brand is
likely to be successful again and exhibitors will be more interested than if an untested concept is launched.

Labelexpo launches summit in South Africa
The Labelexpo Global Series has announced a new event, Label Summit Africa
2012, which will focus on the growing African label and package printing market.
The conference and table-top exhibition will take place on March 19 and 20 at the
Westin Hotel in Cape Town. The rapid growth of supermarkets belonging to both
local and international chains in Africa is providing plenty of opportunities for the
label and package printing industry. This is aided by legislation aimed at improving
standards, for example on environmental packaging. In South Africa, in particular,
the market is experiencing strong growth, with most competition taking place in the
pressure-sensitive and sleeve segments. Label and package printing is
consistently the fastest growing sector in the printing industry. Roger Pellow,
Labelexpo Managing Director said: “We are very excited to be moving into this
important region. Label Summit Africa will give African printers the opportunity to
learn about global advances in label technologies and to meet with both local and
international suppliers to discuss the future of label printing in Africa.” (ja)

Premiere for MDA in Brazil
Deutsche Messe, Hanover, is to launch Motion, Drive & Automation (MDA) South
America in São Paulo from March 19 to 22, 2013. The company is currently
staging Cemat South America there from April 4 to 7, 2011 with more than 200
exhibitors. "We will stage MDA South America concurrently with the next Cemat
South America in March 2013. In this way, we are transferring the event format of
the Hanover Fair, by which multiple leading fairs are held under one roof, to South

Partnership to export IP Expo
easyFairs announced a partnership deal with Imago Techmedia, specialist in IT
events and organiser of IP Expo. The aim is to take the IP Expo brand and
concept to other countries where easyFairs is well established, starting with Spain
and Sweden. IP Expo was first launched in 2005 and has since grown to become
the UK's largest end-to-end infrastructure event covering IP networks,
virtualisation, cloud, wireless, storage and security technologies. The next event
takes place at Earls Court in October 2011. In 2010 Imago launched IP Expo in
Johannesburg, South Africa, with the next show taking place in November.
easyFairs has built a series of IT shows in the Nordic region and plans to extend
its presence in the sector through acquisition and organic developments to be
announced in the coming weeks. Imago Chairman and founder Hugh Keeble, who
is also a non-executive director with easyFairs, commented on the good fit
between the two companies: “IP Expo is now an established brand within the IT
show sector and Imago brings considerable depth of knowledge of the market to
the table. For its part, easyFairs, with a network of offices and trade shows in 16
countries, provides the ideal launch pad into other European markets.” (ja)

Launch of Ideal Home Show at Christmas
Media 10 announced the launch of a festive version of the Ideal Home Show. The
new five-day event will be held at London’s Earls Court from November 16 to 20,
2011 and will feature dedicated areas like its London and Scotland counterparts:
Ideal Interiors, Ideal Home Improvement (incorporating Gardens), Ideal Woman,
Ideal Food, Ideal Gifts & Shopping, and Ideal Technology. Ideal Home Show at
Christmas will be set across 40,000m² and be as expansive as the spring event,
with an estimated 60,000 visitors. The show will bring together more than 400
exhibitors with a mix of brand names, as well as international and UK-based
retailers. “Ideal Home Show at Christmas will be our third annual event in the Ideal
Home Show Calendar and comes at a time when the consumer public are looking
to spend more time improving the homes that they live in, rather than moving,” Lee
Newton, managing director of Media 10 said. “Christmas is also a key time for
homeowners to finish off their last-minute DIY projects before families get together
for the holidays, so it is a perfect time for us to help consumers create their perfect

“Better the Best” campaign promotes top exhibitions
The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) will offer its support to
selected international flagship events held in Thailand, representing different
industry sectors, to help them extend their international market reach and develop
these events as “regional champions”. The “Better the Best” initiative, launched in
2010 and now in its second edition, is meant to enhance the international
competitiveness of Thailand’s exhibitions industry at both regional and global
arena, and help increase the numbers of international exhibition event operators,
exhibitors and visitors coming to Thailand. TCEB has already selected five highprofile
exhibitions for inclusion in the current programme, namely the Propak Asia
2011, Bangkok International Gift & Houseware (BIG+BIH) 2011, Metalex 2011,
Renewable Energy 2011 and VIV Asia 2013, all to be held at the Bangkok

At a joint press conference last week,
the Cape Town International
Convention Centre (CTICC), the City
of Cape Town and the Provincial
Government of the Western Cape
announced that funding has been
secured from all three parties to
expand the Centre eastwards. The
expansion of the convention centre
will also include 10,000m² of retail
space, a hospital, an office tower,
numerous basement parking bays, as
well as the regeneration of Founder’s
Garden by the Province, which will
connect the Artscape precinct with the
new, larger CTICC.

Kuwait is planning to develop its own rail and metro projects as part of the Gulf
Cooperation Council’s wider efforts to improve public transportation networks and
its connectivity with neighbours. Kuwait Metro and Rail Conference &
Exhibition on April 19 and 20, 2011 offers a complete and comprehensive
analysis of the current regulatory framework, innovative financing structures for rail
projects, practical environment-friendly solutions for rail operation and new
technologies reaching the market. Organiser is ProMedia International.
Global Sources has formed a partnership with China’s Trade Development Bureau
to jointly organise six China Sourcing Fairs at the Miami Beach Convention
Center, Florida, July 11 to 13, 2011. The shows are expected to showcase over
550 booths with Chinese suppliers of electronics, gifts & premiums, home
products, baby & children’s products, fashion accessories and garments & textiles.
The dates of Shop Design & Retailtec Russia of Messe Düsseldorf, OOO Messe
Düsseldorf Moscow and Expo-Park have been brought forward. Instead of
September 13 to 15, the fair now takes place from September 5 to 7, 2011 in the
Expocentre, Moscow.
Confindustria Ceramica and BolognaFiere have signed an agreement to keep
Cersaie in Bologna, Italy, until 2015, with an option for 2016 and 2017. The next
edition of the exhibition for ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings takes place
September 20 to 24, 2011.
New date, new location, new co-operation: The fashion show Collection
Première Istanbul (CPI) will be showing from September 22 to 24, 2011 under
the management of CNR International Trade Fairs in the CNR Expo Center in
Istanbul, in the immediate vicinity of Atatürk Airport. CPI will be organised this year
in co-operation with ITKIB (Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters Association)
and the Igedo Company.
TTW – The Swiss platform for the global travel industry will no longer be held in
Montreux, Switzerland, as it has been since 1976, but, starting in 2011, in Geneva
(September 28 to 29) and Zurich (October 19 to 20). It is organised by TTW-
Management.
The premiere of the Annual Private Label Forum will be held together with the 5th
edition of Marca Blanca. The Private Label Exhibition will take place at Feria de
Madrid on November 23 and 24, 2011, organised by MarkExpo.
The 2nd International WEBO Exhibition of Iraq (Water & Wastewater, Electricity,
Building, Oil & Gas) was postponed from April to October 2 to 5, 2011 at the
Baghdad International Fairground. M&T Solutions is the organiser.
Barcelona Degusta, the consumer food show, will be held from December 2 to 4,
2011 at the Montjuïc exhibition centre. Following an agreement reached with
Alimentaria Exhibitions, the current organiser of the event, it will be managed by
Fira de Barcelona and held annually.
Diemould India has been moved. Instead of February 23 to 26, DEMAT will
organise the International Trade Fair for Mouldmaking and Tooling, Design and
Application Development from April 19 to 22, 2012 in the Chennai Trade Centre.
CTIA – The Wireless Association announced the International CTIA Wireless
2012 show will take place May 8 to 10 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Ernest N.
Morial Convention Center. The CTIA show is the premier mobile industry event
representing a $1 trillion global marketplace.
