FAGORNEWS 2011 CANARY ISLANDS FAGOR INDUSTRIAL’S CANARY ISLAND BRANCH EQUIPS THE GENERAL ALEMÁN RAMÍREZ BARRACKS 12 Fagor Industrial’s branch in the Canary Islands has totally fitted out the kitchens of the “Base General Alemán Ramírez” military barracks in La Isleta peninsula, Gran Canaria island. The project was embarked on after signing a contract with the company Acciona Infraestructuras and consisted of equipping a kitchen to cater for 1,500 people. In addition to the standard kitchen installations, it also had to include a refrigerated and neutral storage area, food preparation halls, a dishwashing area, a self-service area for officers and another for soldiers, plus a third self-service area for the VIP dining room and a soldiers’ social centre. The installation took a total of three months and was carried out under constant su- TOGETHER WE EVOLVE pervision from the Fagor Industrial projects department in Las Palmas, which visited the works at least once a week to check it was progressing as required. The results amply fulfilled the client’s requirements, with all the elements integrated in comfortable, spacious areas, in the case of both the interior zones - kitchen, washing area and workrooms - and the dining areas. As this was a single-floor installation, the only complications were those connected with installing the heaviest items in the building - the dishwashers, blast chiller and cooking units - although the problem was quickly solved thanks to the collaboration of the whole works team of the company Acciona. #04 / FEBRUARY 2011
