Connor, Clint Smith, Ayoob, John Taffin,
John Morrison, Sammy Reese and all
the other staffers here at FMG. Heck, I
always thought they were pretty smart
and stuff, not to mention pretty darn
nice people too. Never seen any of ’em
frothing about anything. Well, there was
that one time, but it involved a welldrawn
stout beer with a good head and
an ill-timed sneeze. RH
Right To Flight?
I left California for the same reasons
editor Huntington and others have done
— people have historically fled intolerable
conditions. But let’s look a little
deeper. What would have happened if
every Jew had taken a Nazi with him?
Or if a million anti-Castro Cubans had
stayed and resisted? There is a plaque
on the south side of our border fence,
shaming the Mexican government for
conditions that make flight the price of
survival. My question is, where will
Americans flee when all of the states are
Californicated? Keep up the fight.

Kids And Deadly Force
Massad Ayoob’s article about youths
using deadly force and how the left
goes nuts when they do (Ayoob Files,
Jan/Feb 2012), got me thinking. I was
saved years ago by two young boys
with guns. I was out with a woman on
our second date. We saw The Patriot
with Mel Gibson. One scene shows Mel
arming two of his sons to rescue a third
son from the British. Later they actually
shoot British soldiers.
Over coffee after the movie, my date
remarked how terrible it was to send a
message to youths that guns were okay,
particularly when wielded by boys.
Those two boys in the movie saved me
a lot of money spent on further dates
with her!

Repulsive Rooster
You sure brought back memories of
my rooster (Insider, “Chicken Guns”
Jan/Feb 2013). When I was a kid in the
late 1950’s the local stores would sell
rabbits and chicks around Easter. The
“chick” I got grew into King Rooster.
He whipped every dog in the neighborhood.
Most parents would keep the kids
inside, just to avoid him. Then King
jumped my mother, she got pecked and
scratched and when dad got home she
was a bloody mess. Dad drove an old
station wagon and I still remember dad
