embarrassment to me as a gun owner.
And President Obama, as far as I
have seen, has never made a move nor
uttered a word to deprive us of our
reasonable gun rights, though, as a
black man from inner city Chicago, he
might be forgiven for holding a view
of guns that is different from that of
the White Gentlemen’s Gun Culture
most of us occupy.
In any case, the NRA does not speak
for me and never will.

Wait until his second term begins in
earnest. May I say, “I told you so”
later? Interestingly enough, Tony,
you’re the only person I’ve had bring
up the race issue when it comes to this
topic. I’ve frankly never thought of
myself as being part of a “White Gentleman’s
Gun Culture” and I’ve never
had a reader refer to anyone like that
before. I think we just think of ourselves
as shooters or collectors, or simply gunguys
and gals, with no regard to race.
Shouldn’t we remain color blind to all
this and concentrate on rights and facts
instead? RH
A Hard Lesson
“Here’s a letter to the editor you
probably won’t print!”
When a letter starts off that way,
you can bet the author is not a regular
reader of the reader mail in Handgunner.
I’m not much of an editorial
reader either, but, I do read Speak Out
in Handgunner because it’s always
so damn entertaining. Not only are
you able to wring the best outa’ your
staff, but you guys have the greatest
“last-page-o-the-magazine” articles in
the business. I know that for a fact
because I’ve read ‘em all. Plus, those
“Insider Tips” videos on your website
are fantastic.
So when a guy starts out his letter
to the editor with something like
“You’ll never print this!” most of
the rest of us know he’s not a regular
reader — in spite of what he claims.
If he was, he’d know that you’ll not
only print it, but if need be, aim square
betwixt the eyes with a double-load of
truth, and let ‘er rip.
Thanks for a quality magazine, with
a bucket-full of quality writers.
